CELEBRITY BIG BROTHER RETURNS FOR A SECOND SERIES

It’s back! Celebrity Big Brother - the celebrity version of the original reality TV show - returns to Channel 4, once again giving viewers the chance to see well-known faces put themselves through the authentic Big Brother experience.

And this year’s Celebrity Big Brother is even bigger than before, as the six famous participants will spend an eventful ten days in the Big Brother house. And for the first time, viewers will be able to follow the celebrity housemates day and night, by watching round-the-clock action direct from the house on E4 and the website.

The identities of the celebrity participants will not be revealed until the day they enter the house. The new housemates, cut off from the outside world, will have their every move in the purpose-built Hertfordshire house subjected to the scrutiny of the cameras as they adhere strictly to the Big Brother rules. On their third day in the house the celebrities will begin the eviction process as they nominate two of their number to be put up for eviction. The first eviction will take place on Day 5 in the house. All the nominations and evictions will be broadcast live on Channel 4.

The decision as to who stays or goes is, as always, in the hands of the viewers, who will be able to vote via telephone, text message and their remote control. All eviction votes cost 25p per vote. 15p of each vote cast via telephone or interactive TV will be donated to charity. A percentage of the 25p vote cast via text message will also be donated to charity. A group of charities all associated with the theme of youth in crisis will be the recipients of the money raised from the eviction votes.

On Channel 4 there will be hour-long shows every night, kicking off with a special live launch programme to witness the celebrities entering their new home and see their first reactions to each other. The proceedings will be hosted by Davina McCall, who will host all of the live shows, presiding over the live evictions, live nominations and of course, the live tasks.

For the first time, the fanzine show, Big Brother’s Little Brother, will have celebrity housemates to analyse and gossip about. Presented by Dermot O’Leary, Big Brother’s Little Brother will be a must-see for all fans, as the regular Big Brother psychologists, numerous experts, and friends and family of the celebrity housemates, all mull over the comings and goings in the house. These hour-long shows will be broadcast every weekday evening – the first half hour simulcast on C4 and E4, with the extended version on E4 only.

E4 too will of course be home to live streaming of house action, and digital TV viewers on E4 and C4 will be able to access the Celebrity Big Brother Interactive TV service, with a choice of different streams from the house, video highlights and news updates. The Celebrity Big Brother website’s newsroom will be working seven days a week to keep fans up to the minute with any events in the house, as well as offering users email updates and chat forums. And of course website users will also be able to follow all the house action by subscribing to the live streaming.

Phil Edgar-Jones, Executive Producer of Big Brother, says:
“When it comes to celebrity challenges, this is the original and best. With normal Big Brother, we’re making ordinary people extraordinary. With this, we’re making famous people very, very ordinary, and it’s their ordinariness that’s the most exciting thing. The new elements we’ve introduced – especially the live streaming – are designed to show exactly that. Celebrity Big Brother is once again set to be huge fun – whether watching, voting or taking part – and the viewers’ votes should bring in a real bonus for the charities involved as well.”
