'Big Brother' ties weakest premiere ever

Maybe CBS should put the housemates under a dome.

Veteran summer reality series Big Brother tied its weakest start in the show’s history Wednesday night. The 8 p.m. launch of the show’s 15th edition had 6.3 million viewers and a 2.1 rating among adults 18-49, down 19 percent from last year and matching the show’s all-time debut low from 2008. Meanwhile the grandly titled The American Baking Competition shifted to 9 p.m. and was unchanged this week with 5 million viewers and a 1.2 rating.

Big Brother (here’s our recap) tied the 8 p.m. edition of MasterChef in the adult demo, but the 9 p.m. hour of the Fox reality show surged to a 2.4 rating and won the night. The Big Brother dip follows CBS having a ratings victory earlier this week with the premiere of summer drama Under the Dome.

Not a good start for this season...

2008...wasn't that one of the best ever where they dumped the silly twists and gave us Dan. Yeah, taste and ratings never match. If the public want the same people and over give Jeff and Jordan their own show or something.

Well the 2008 launch followed the dreadful BB9, so it had nothing to do with the quality of BB10. BB10 helped boost the show; the ratings increased from BB10 to BB13. Seeing as the last three years of BB have been terrible and ratings were down last year, I'm not surprised at all by this rating.

But it was #1 in it's Timeslot. So I wouldn't be worried

last night's episode was the most watched episode of the season with 8.36m viewers and and a 2.6 rating in the 18-49 demo.

it's absolutely amazing for a 14 year old show to be this HUGE.

Oh it would've been bigger if it wasn't for NFL Preseason in some markets.
