What do you think about being a number on a list?, im talking about most loved and shauns recent one, top 100 tibbers!
I myself see it as a pointless exercise and childish.
clearly those that have appeared on a list will not share my views.

..I can't think that anyone feels that 'number on the list' makes a difference to their lives or means anything either on the forum or in real life but it's no different from any game/thread/debate or anything else on TiBB or probably any other forum...what does have a 'point'..?...in a debate, members who have passionate opinions sometimes get into arguments etc..does that change the other persons views..?..what's the point in getting irritated/annoyed...does taking part/winning a forum game make any difference to anything..make us more intelligent than we are..?..what's the point...

..does there have to be a point...games/debates/silly threads/'lists' of ML and otherwise/polls/top songs of top years/sweepstakes/predictions of sports/reality TV and anything else predicted...in our lives they have no 'point' at all but we're all members of a forum and expect some type of entertainment/activity and some variety as well...so out of respect for everyone who takes the time to organise or take part in any of these things or contribute to a debate/make a thread etc, I appreciate it and don't see it as 'pointless' at all because otherwise we'll all be sat here staring at each other with not an awful lot happening to make the forum interesting and then for me, there really would be no 'point' in being here at all.....

EDIT:...and I don't make a choice to be on a list but if anyone places me there for whatever reasons, good or bad, then so be it...I don't see the point in objecting to it and especially when people have given their time to do it, I am who I am and not a number and the same for everyone else, it doesn't change anything about them...

..and I will also say, why is a 'list' any less valid entertainment than a game..?..it's all aimed to provide us with a bit of variety and as we all know, games often cause arguments etc for a few but are still enjoyed by many and therefore have a 'point'... and on a forum where 'free speech' has often been mentioned, I don't think we should judge what other members find entertaining because as we know, and like most things, that's all subjective anyway...

From my perspective,I just appreciate the effort the person organising the poll or game puts into it for the other members.

Over the year there can be a fair bit of unpleasantness and even nastiness directed to and from members to each other on the forum.
The 2 polls mentioned above, one where other members have to nominate and then vote for members to be in it, is nice for the positive angle it brings from the people voting in it at all.
The greatest members list which Shaun did, was not only another positive one but also a really fascinating one to follow, learning about members past and present.
I would have said the same had I not been in either of those lists,in fact I wasn't in the ML poll for my first 18 months on ths forum anyway and still loved following the event.
I have come to really like so many people on here,I have found out some people I thought I may never get on with, that I was wrong to think that, as I rate them highly now and the same vice versa too.

So I love the diversity of the forum and despite a recent blip on my part it is still the forum I would recommend to anyone else, for the fact you get heated debate, for the fact you can share your thoughts and feelings on the forum, for the fact you can form good relationships and also have the chance to take part in so many games and events too if you wish to.

I hope Most loved and also the other polls I misunderstood like the razzies take place for a long time to come too.
So in the most loved poll, I don't see myself as just a number on the list as my other members put me there, in the greatest tibb members, for some reason Shaun put me in it,I still wonder how.

For me at least anyway,it is nice to see some ordered positive thing done at times as to members and all credit to the members who organise same too.

..oh and also, just mentioning the specific lists in the OP...ML has an option to opt out of being on that list, there were a few people who did that this time but not that many compared to the members who didn’t so I can only assume that it’s a list people don’t mind being on, so on the whole popular..and the ‘Top Tibbers’, well that included a lot of people that most of us don’t know but in Shaun’s opinion have contributed to the TiBB we all choose to be part of and it’s never been said to be anything other than a personal opinion, but love it or hate it, I think it would be extremely disrespectful to not appreciate how much time went into compiling it.. and actually I would think, quite a bit of an emotional journey as well...in a TiBB forum ‘who do you think you are’ type way, it does have a point in learning about the forum and members past and present....

It makes me smile tbh, sometimes I think it's a veiled attempt at telling certain members your not keen on them, other times I think if it makes certain people happy ,then why not, personally I have thought why do people need to stroke peoples egos so much, but that's the nature of this forum I guess,It's something TIBB seems to like to do.so,so be it:hugesmile:

I don't mind the nice lists even though they are a bit gushy, I can see the positivity in them and that justifies the time and energy placed into compiling them.
It's the nasty lists I don't like, the ones I've seen and heard about got very brutal and I can't think what they bring to the forum.

Shaun

I suppose it is indeed pointless... the one I made doesn't mean anything... I just have been a member for a long time and fancied honouring a load of good members who're no longer with us.

It's hardly official, it was just something I stringed together out of boredom and fondness for TiBB.

Withano

#46th – Withano
Previous performance: New entry
1st Round: 21 points || 2nd Round: 12 points || Total: 33 points.
Withano enters the list at 46th – will he ever not be robbed of a high placing in a TiBB competition? His hair is all kinds of amazing and his Eurovision entry was absolutely wonderful. One member gave him points for being “witty and interesting”, while another said “I want to have sex with him and afterwards we can lie in bed and reminisce about his time spent in Africa where everybody knows I truly belong” and I bet you can’t guess who that was. One member said he’s “such a nice guy, love his posts. Hope he does well in Most Loved.” He picked up points from one user who said “I’m voting for him largely because of his Eurovision entry... it made it a lot more fun and uplifting to run this year, and it was ridiculously cute. Also, he seems like a really friendly and easygoing guy, and ALSO I covet his hair. Gorgeous stuff,” said that user who isn’t Shaun I swear. He gained points from one member who had this to say: “he’s looked a lion in the eye and taught children how to sing. Rumour has it that he fought off a herd of wild boar who tried to drink his Carlsberg, using only his left hand. Whether it’s with an o or with a no, he’s a very classy, sassy guy and one of the brightest new lights of the forum.” It just goes to show that having good hair and an even better personality can take you a long way in life. Well done Withano!

I didn't read the OP, I reread this instead

I came 8th in the last Most Loved. Conversely, I wasn't in Shaun's list at all. I think most sensible people treat all this stuff as a bit of fun... which is all it is. Some people take popularity contests far too seriously, especially those who seem to crave popularity. If they don't get the result they think they deserve, they tear it down and pretend it's pathetic to them. However, making a thread about it seems like someone protesting too much.

For goodness sake why are you so angry all the time?

Some members come here to post about BB or if it's off season about the various other topics and then they log out and that's all there is to it for them but some members, quite a few actually have been signed up to this forum for a long time, they put lots of effort into running things, creating games or taking part in them, coming up with new ideas to make the forum better and keep it busy and have also made really good friends on here, we can debate like mad with each other over tv shows then act like nothing has even happened once the show is over and it's all of these things that makes TiBB an online community, these lists and countdowns give the members that put so much effort into the forum a little bit of recognition for everything they do, if you don't like the lists or any other thread for that matter then just don't post in them but don't start getting angry at other members for enjoying that sort of thing.
