What are your opinions on four of the housemates going back in, one being back into the house and eligible to win?! To be honest, I think it kind of has defeated the object of BB. The whole idea was a game of endurance, see who could last the longest and capture the public's heart - they had one shot at getting it right and if they didn't, they were out. No second chances. No second attempts to prove themselves. But now, this year, we suddenly get a chance to kick four of these evicted housemates back in. These housemates have gone home, freshened up, read newspapers, had a haircut, bought new clothes. If they go back in now they know in which way to act. They know what the public like, and they have a better idea of what not to say - they won't so easily forget this time that they're being watched at each and every moment, like they have done before. Because they know what happens when you begin to think like that.
Personally, I don't think it is fair. Many people have spent money voting these people out, and all Big Brother can do is laugh in their face and offer these housemates a second chance? I don't realise how people can say it is completely fair - if you think it's fair these housemates get a second chance, fine, that's your opinion, but you'll still know that people have been conned out of their money by voting these people out when obviously all along they were just going to give them another 'free go' at impressing the nation. People have still spent money doing this. Lost money, actually.
I know, I know, that most people want favourites back in. They want to vote them back in, they want to see how they'll stir it up, they want to see how the other housemates will react. I'm one of those people. I would like as much as the next person to see a Grace vs. Aisleyne. And it's not so much them going in that I mind - I know BB has got slightly boring over the past few weeks and to liven it up a little would be great. But that person who gets picked to go in - they'll know what they have to do to be liked. They'll know what the public want. And people have spent their money voting for the person who they disliked to be removed from this house, to now find out that actually, that person now has the same chance as everyone else at winning £100,000. Get them back in - stir things up a little, give us some entertainment - but don't let them win.
Grace Dent has said "Big Brother can meddle with fake evictions, golden tickets and secret houses, but the moment they change the rules, the whole concept feels utterly pointless". And it does. During the past seven years, the thing that has become the 'point' of BB is that the winner has been popular throughout. The likes of Grace, Lisa and Nikki have all been evicted and voted out for their unpopular behaviour. It's always satisfying at the end to know that your favourite has endured the past 10 or so weeks and pulled through. Not this time though. An old housemate will be thrown with a week to go ... "Meanwhile Pete, Richard, Ash, Imogen, Jennie and Glyn sit in the house feeling addled, flabby, homesick and slightly deranged" - Grace Dent.
So give me your opinion. What do you think? Fair? Or has the whole point of BB sort of been taken away by them changing the rules so drastically? It feels sort of wrong to me, but it'd be interesting to know what other people think.
