Very interesting reading, but I'm not sure what to think about it, or even if Josh really is as bitter as he's made out to be. I'd question that the show made him look intelligent, but if he wants to think that then all credit to him. He's also a bit unrealistic when he says he wants more support, but doesn't want to talk to the psychiatrist provided. I also thought they were forced to stay in the hotel in the first night since release on the advice of the psychiatrists. Perhaps I'm too gullible. He at least had the benefit of being from London, so having his network of friends readily available to him in the following weeks as he developed his celebrity career.

I'm sure we all knew that editing of the contestants was not as balanced as it could be. Both in terms of portraying them as a specific personality type, and some more favourably than others, but I'm not sure it was wise for him to complain about Brian getting better treatment (even if it was true). Even if it was one of a number of examples given, it still looks like he's got an axe to grind. Plus, people watching E4 thought he was boring too. Same about being described as Gay Josh. Helen and Paul weren't described as straight, because they had their own adjectives that were equally limiting (blonde, dizzy, Reading Romeo). I suppose it wasn't his fault, but the most interesting thing about Josh was Brian's reaction to him, which was rooted in his sexuality.

I'm also not sure Josh really did get good publicity from BB. It wasn't especially negative, but it wasn't really anything. He's been rather overlooked in the short-term, which is probably to his benefit. The cynic in me thinks that he's telling people he got good publicity, so the less observant will assume he did.

I found this within an article in The Guardian on Pop Idol, which if you want to read the full thing is

And as upwards of 10,000 wannabes jostle for the chance to feature in Big Brother 3 - the deadline for applications passed yesterday - most previous contestants are long forgotten. One of last year's contestants, Josh Rafter, gave a self-promoting interview to the Observer last month in which he complained about being dumped by the programme-makers - failing to mention that in the same week, he had been at the Endemol offices for his final after-care appointment with the show's psychotherapist.

I'm not quite sure the point the journalist is trying to make, but Josh did mention he'd been into see them. It was in the original article - that's how I knew about it. Why did they bother interviewing him if they didn't want him to talk about what he's doing, or what he thought of his experiences?
