A while back a man was hit by a train/subway and trapped under the wheel. He was still alive but the rescuers knew he would die as soon as they moved the train, so he phoned his family to say goodbye. I have been searching for this news story for hours to no avail. I need it for some research.

I've had a nosy but can't find anything concrete. There's a forum that discusses it but they are referring to it as an urban legend.

That does sound a bit... unlikely

I know that it does happen sometimes in bad car accident where people have bad crush injuries and the weight of whatever they are trapped under stops the bleed and as soon as they are cut free they bleed out quicker than the medics can do anything (and I've seen it on casualty so it must happen). Not heard of this story though so sorry Ben.

Urban legend.
sounds like a story i saw on the news years ago about some kid in Africa who was stuck inside some mud pit and it was swallowing him up as time went by and they couldn't get him out and he was just standing there smiling like he didn't have a clue what was going on

Has it got to be that story ?
A friend of mine was very ill with cancer , her son rang her from Clifton suspension bridge to say goodbye and don't be scared to die - as jumped off
Are you sure you're not thinking of that part in Scary Movie 3 when Charlie Sheen is saying goodbye to Denise Richards?

Well that particular story maybe an urban legend, but there are many cases of people being cut in half by trains/trucks/cars and still being alive a good few hours after (some have actually even survived) so it's not urban legend.
If you don't believe me I can give you links (but you probably won;t want to see them).

That sounds so sad :(
Split in half like a sandwich or split in half like glass sliding doors? Can you still have sex with them if it's like a set of sliding doors?

Is it this ben?

Some had been conscious and lucid, talking to rescuers, but died of crush syndrome soon after the weight was removed from their bodies. This was due to the sudden release of substances such as potassium from the injured limb. This resulted in changes to rescue procedures for these kinds of accidents.
Ben what the ******* must your Internet search history look like...
Also I saw this on Scary Movie 3
