Berlin-based DJ, drag queen, and YouTube star Barbie Breakout is known for her transformative drag makeup and wig tutorials. Recently, she used the video platform to send a different message.

She’s been very vocal on her Facebook page about Vladimir Putin’s crusade against Russian LGBT youth, which has been facilitated by the social network VK. Anti-gay extremists have taken to creating fake social media profiles in order to target LGBT youths. They then use video or photos to publicly shame and bully them.

In late July, Breakout released this video, titled “Open Your Mouth,” in which she silently sews her mouth shut with a needle and thread, in protest of Russia’s new laws. She told German newspaper Die Welt:

"The pain I felt inside when I had to see in the media what is happening in Russia was greater than the physical pain of the needle. My partner held the camera while I did it. But he couldn't look.”

I read this earlier today. It's amazing how passionate she is that she would do that.

The protests against LGBT rights in Russia are so admirable and supportive. Especially now that so many countries are contributing to the reinforcement of gay rights.

Considering all of the crap I have seen online, I suprisingly found that video quite difficult to watch. The anti-gay attitude thats rearing its head in Russia at the moment is quite unbelievable. The pictures here illustrate it perfectly http://www.buzzfeed.com/hunterschwarz/russian-gay-rights-demonstrators-arrested its genuinely shocking.

Straight men viewing may find the following mantra handy to chant as you're watching the video:

Its not P!NK its a man
Its not P!NK its a man
Its not P!NK its a man:joker:

Why wouldn't it be serious.

I'm referring to the amount of acknowledgement that has been shown by celebs from UK, USA etc. And the fact that Russian vodka has been boycott due to the treatment of gay rights in Russia. The person from the OP is from Germany as well so it all shows that people in other countries care.

Sorry if I've confused anybody with my post.

The protests against LGBT rights in Russia are so admirable?

If you're trolling, you're doing it very well.

Are you trolling me?!

The person in your OP..."Barbie Breakout" is from Germany, which backs up my point.

And what I meant by admirable, was the fact that people from other countries are protesting against how poor gay rights are in Russia. Again, which is why I brought up the boycotting of Russian Vodka in bars.

The protests against LGBT rights, to me reads as the people protesting against people who are standing up for their rights. I've clearly misunderstood. So, yea. :joker:

I apologise. It was poorly worded.

I should've made it clear I was referring to other countries, so no worries.
