There was a huge story here earlier this week about a woman's 2 year old being assaulted and gay bashed by a very stereotypical drunken redneck. It came out today that the story (which most sane people were calling out as fake the day it broke) is being retracted by the media outlets (http://www.queerty.com/mommy-blogger-of-pink-headband-fame-hospitalized-for-mental-evaluation-20130807/) that picked it up on grounds that she's "a pathological liar"

The story was picked up at least in the Mail, not sure if anyone else did, but I'm wondering, do they bother going back and updating that it was all a hoax, or do they just leave the (poorly written) diatribe she ended up deleting from the web as it stands?

Not really seen it covered much, but according to the latest Daily Mail article on it she has been taken to hospital "as she struggled to cope with the publicity" not that it's been confirmed as a hoax or anything

It's easier for a paper to release a fake story and then fill another paper with corrections than it is to just not publish the story at all... sad but true :/
