View Full Version : Query about the 'excessive insulting of housemates' rule

I understand that while there's a lot of freedom to insult housemates (rightly so), that there's also a clause in the rule that says it can't be excessive or something like that?

So what I'm wondering is do these continuous really nasty and derogatory comments about housemates appearances count? I mean the odd joke is fine IMO, nothing wrong with having a laugh every so often, but this series I've found (especially in the last few weeks) that there really has been some truly disgusting comments made about the way housemates look, and these are just continually made post after post when a member is criticising them...and I find it quite childish, unnecessary and pathetic actually. Everyone knows full well the housemates I don't like but I don't insult the way they look, it's just not needed :conf:

So yeah, I'm just wondering if this counts as a rule break, or indeed if it could be made so that it counts? Like I said the odd joke seems fine but the incessant name calling and digs at the way certain housemates look is just really quite vile if you ask me.

I think the embarrassment of seeing your own childish and pathetic post should be punishment enough for anybody who does that.

I don't mind it as long as it's not the main reason to dislike someone, that's when I think it should be stamped out as they are not watching the right show imo, or they are trolling to get a reaction out of people that don't vote for that reason.

Are you calling this post I've made here 'childish and pathetic' or the rest of my posts? :conf:

I think he was referring to those who make the insulting comments, that their punishment should be seeing their own childish and pathetic posts

However if they made the comment in the first place then they probably don't see anything wrong with it so I think harsher punishments should be in place for those who are excessively rude imo

I don't think he was using "you" meaning you Jack but as a general term as in if you're going to post childish crap it will be left for everyone to see...not directed at you though...(I hope that makes sense to you, I know what I mean )

Richard knows me well.

And yeah if they're willing to make a comment like that then they're clearly just an idiot and won't change their ways.

People who make statements like that know they're garbage anyway

I've not been watching BB but I think this ought to be a rule... people have this detachment from reality when they're discussing Big Brother, as if these aren't real people who are quite likely to read these comments once they're out of the house... Plenty of ex-housemates have been on TiBB and have even signed up to reply to people. Someone's looks shouldn't be a reason to criticise them.
