Reports Of Shots Fired At US Elementary School

Police in Georgia have a suspect in custody after reports of gunfire at an Atlanta-area elementary school.

Superintendent of DeKalb County schools Michael Thurmond says school officials are doing a head count to ensure all students at Ronald E McNair Discovery Learning Academy are safe.

He says he is not aware of any injuries.

Television footage shows students had been evacuated from the school and were sitting outside in a field.

Buses are being brought in to take children away from the school.

DeKalb County School Board Chairman Melvin Johnson told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution newspaper there were reports of shots being fired inside the building that houses students from pre-school to fifth grade.

Ours went back last week, a few towns over the week before that.

Mixed reports on this and conflicting stories everywhere (what else is new). One source says the guy was inside, another says he never made it inside. Give it 3 days, and maybe we'll know what actually happened.

You make it sound as though Georgia, US is known for its school massacres.
I was expecting this thread to be about the Georgia near Russia.

It's why I'm waiting until details come out. I've seen reports of "school shootings" before that were actually drug/gang incidents that happened to be on the same street as a school.

In custody and no injuries, kids were all evacuated safely as soon as there was word of a problem:

That's good news. Still issue of guns in schools :(
