New series started last night.

Oh how I love this show. I love that there is always a nicely diverse set of contestants. And I like that the show is interspersed with little segments of food history.

I like the little conversations between Paul and Mary about the contest (loads of double entendres :p) and I like the presenters, Mel and Sue...I also like watching the baking. It gets really tense at times.

But mainly, I like the screwups *grins*

In last nights round, there wasn't a lot of doubt who was going to go...he'd messed up his sandwich cake, and his showstopper was not very good, but his biggest mistake was when he used salt instead of sugar in the angel food cake...

Daft ha'porth.

Nothing beats the tension and drama of watching someone move a cake around. I get so scared they'll drop it.

Also, Ruby is a bit of a moody cow.

Also, Glenn's Gaudi cake :worship: and the squirrel one

finally caught up, finally have opinions on all of the bakers~

1) Howard. My very own Alan Bennett. Lovely gent.
2) Kimberley. Always brilliant, always smiling, seems lovely.
3) Glenn. Go up and down with him (ooh matron), since he's not very good and probably doomed to go on Tuesday, but he's funny and provides much of the baker-to-baker banter.
4) Christine. Horrible teeth, lovely baking. Not very interesting though... but I liked her prayers to the gods of crisp.
5) Ruby. LIGHTEN UP YOU COW. Talented baker, will probably win, but oh god stop complaining.
6) Beca. Stands out the last, seems nice enough. Spells her name stupidly.
7) Frances. She gets on my tits, always looks on the verge of tears, and has that smug self-approved "English" face whenever she's announcing what she's designed. She just really annoys me LOL

glad Rob went though, his stupid designs made his food look gross.

Awwww! I'll miss Glenn. :(

Me too. Glenn expected to go though. All the blokes have been voted off now, so an all girl quarter final. I was hoping Beca or Frances would be next out.

According to Neil Midgley from this link (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandradio/10347590/The-Great-British-Bake-Off-episode-seven-review.html#) to his column.

Well, now they’re all gone. And one thing we know for sure, at this point, is that the 2013 Bake Off will be won by a resolutely normal woman. Which seems to be what the producers wanted, all along.

Although I doubt the producers did. Neil is probably just irked that no men made it through to the quarter finals.

Shaun

Glenn :bawling: one of my favourites.

I don't like Frances... way too uptight and stupid and annoying. And I also find Ruby dull as hell, and her fake "I don't know what I'm doing" act wore off after week 3.

Hit BBC Two show The Great British Bake Off is to move to BBC One for its fifth series next year.

The current series is the highest rated show on the channel so far this year, with an average audience of 7 million.

Controller of BBC One Charlotte Moore said she wanted to "bring the show to an even broader audience on BBC One".

The successful amateur baking competition is judged by Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood and fronted by Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins.

Its audience has grown from an average of 2.8 million when it first began in 2010, peaking with 7.8 million a fortnight ago.

The figure is more than last year's final, which drew a total of 7.2 million.

"I've watched the show grow over the last few years and earn a special place in the nation's hearts," said Moore, who commissioned the show in 2009 in her previous role at the BBC, alongside Janice Hadlow who is now the controller of BBC Two.

"It's been fantastic to watch it flourish on BBC Two and I can assure viewers I will continue to cherish it on BBC One."

Love Productions' Anna Beattie, who is also executive producer of the programme, said: "We're extremely proud that the show has captivated so many families and inspired so many people across the country.

"We aim to do everything we can to ensure its continuing authenticity and integrity."

The show is set to crown its newest winner next week.

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/movies/news/a588568/david-brent-movie-coming-ricky-gervais-takes-the-office-to-big-screen.html#~oM4EFFACSsbTfg

The Office's David Brent is finally heading to the big screen with his own movie, Life on the Road.

Ricky Gervais will begin shooting the BBC Films movie in the UK in 2015, it has been confirmed.

"We find out what Brent is doing now and what's happened in the last 15 years since his redundancy from his beloved Wernham Hogg," reads the press release.

"He's a sales rep now, selling cleaning products up and down the country, but has never really given up on his dream of being a rock star."

The film will follow Brent's self-funded UK tour, and he believes that the film will end up like "Scorsese shooting The Rolling Stones".

It turns out to be a 'where are they now' documentary. He has to take a few weeks off work and cash in a couple of pensions, because the session musicians in the band are costing him more than he's getting in ticket sales. Tragic.

David Brent was the lead character in Gervais and Stephen Merchant's BBC Two comedy The Office between 2001 and 2003. The show became a worldwide smash and spawned a hugely successful US remake on NBC, which Gervais made brief cameos in as Brent.

Gervais revisited the character in 2013 for a Comic Relief special and then launched a YouTube channel with David Brent 'Learn Guitar' videos shortly after.

He also went on to take David Brent on the road, playing concerts in character with the band Foregone Conclusion, performing classic tracks from the TV series and new Brent songs.

Ricky Gervais is to make a big screen outing centred around his character from the The Office, David Brent.

The film, Life On The Road, will chart Brent's progress in the 15 years since leaving the company at the centre of the hit BBC Two show.

Brent will be portrayed as a travelling salesman financing a UK concert tour in the hopes of fulfilling his dreams of becoming a rock star.

The BBC film is expected to go into production next year.

The movie will be made in the UK but is intended for worldwide distribution. The Office was shown in more than 100 countries, and was also remade for a number of local markets. including the US.
