The X Factor will reportedly introduce a new voting system during the live shows this year.

As part of a revamp of the ITV talent show, Saturday nights will see fans being able to vote for their favourite acts in a "flash vote".

Viewers will have 200 seconds to phone for their chosen singers after they have all performed, according to The Sun.

Dermot O'Leary will then reveal who has received the lowest number of votes, and they will be up for the elimination on Sunday's show.

Fans will then vote again for Sunday's live show with the lowest-scoring act joining the one from Saturday.

If the judges' vote goes to Deadlock, the act who received the fewest votes on Saturday will depart the show.

The voting system would be part of a number of changes to this year's run, including the judges being told of their categories before the Boot Camp stage.

The X Factor will launch on August 31 on ITV.

That's just stupid and confusing. As if anyone will vote anyway.

Said it already, but they are trying way too hard to make it look new and fresh, but instead are making it pointlessly confusing.

the old voting was good.. caused discussion and controversy, changing something that doesnt need to be changed..

The only new thing the live shows need is a new studio.

Probably to keep the Wagner/Jedward types in longer

Terrible idea. All they need to do is revamp the set and give Sharon the casting vote so deadlock can't happen every week again.

Well my favourite is bound to get caught up in this twist as I don't go for the teeny bopper favourites.

They could use Italy's system where 6 acts are in one group and the other 6 in the other. Bottom of each group are in the singoff. If it goes to deadlock then public votes based on who did the singoff better.

I can already visualise the number of Ofcom investigations over vote fixing, lines not working because everyone's trying to call at once, poor Javine Hylton will be hospitalised by Christmas with all the flashbacks

the last series voting system proved to work quite well as there was no set pattern as to who was unsafe. for example, carolynne performed last on the first week and was the first to be evicted receiving the fewest public votes.
this way however, sounds like a disaster.
