I got my first phone when I was about 22 I think....it was the size of a housebrick. I'd had a pager for a couple of years first.

About 20, I remember a friend in College being the first to get one, and asking him 'what did you get that for?. Who needs a mobile phone'? :joker:

Kind of makes me sad that kids these days will never experience their mothers standing on the doorstep on a summers evening and shouting your name at 8pm, and you hearing it 5 miles away.

I was 11 too and it was a Samsung. I only got it because my brother got a new one.

I guess they don't. Going by my nephews and nieces they play video games or watch TV 99% of the time.

When I was a young child before the internet was even heard of it was a different world.

Computer games and the Internet have a lot to answer for.

5 is just a ridiculous age to get a phone, unfortunately it won't be long before alot more 5 year olds get one, as some parents need their kids to have everything every other kid has.

Both mine got them when they went to high school at 11.
