Total (inc. +1) = 9.94 million/39.2%; peak (ex. +1) = 11.2 million. It's ironic how Saturday's edition had 9.2 million with +1 added, yet yesterday had the exact same without.

Here's how Saturday's launch show fared in comparison to previous years' figures:

2004 - 4.9 million (+4.3m)
2005 - 6.6 million (+2.6m)
2006 - 7.0 million/37% (+2.2m)
2007 - 9.5 million/45% (-0.3m)
2008 - 10.2 million/48.2% (-1.1m)
2009 - 9.91 million/47.9% (-0.7m)
2010 - 11.28 million/48.6%) (-2.08m)
2011 - 11.30m/47.9% (-1.6m)
2012 - 8.71m/ 42.3% (+0.49m)

Pretty poor in comparison to earlier on (bar the first few years, which weren't that popular) but a gradual increase on last year. Hopefully, it'll build momentum and continue to attract viewers who dropped off last year.

Decent enough share and audience for the X Factor. Granted, it's nothing like it was but at least it's somewhat up y-o-y and isn't shredding any viewers. The 2010 highs of 12 million per episode is out of the question for now but the best thing it can do is maintain its audience, which it's doing right now.

Well that doesn't really make sense given how X Factor would have beaten Strictly some years ago

People aren't switching over because of adverts, you don't see Eastenders beating Corrie do you?

No it isn't? You said that Strictly is winning because of adverts (which makes no sense what so ever, 2 million people who watched the show a few years back didn't decide to stop watching because of adverts), my point was that adverts have nothing to do with people suddenly switching off (the example being Corrie and Eastenders). Not as many people are watching The X Factor as a few years back because they aren't interested any more, same woth Big Brother and so on.

But their two completely different genres lol.

But their two completely different genres lol.

It was only an example Jemal, my point being that adverts isn't why Strictly is winning, if it was then it would have been winning from the very off.

Jake is darn right, though, Jemal. Corrie typically maintains a 1 to 2m lead over EastEnders (and bound to be more given what they have coming up) and the latter has no adverts yet still gets worse ratings.

Why did the X Factor beat SCD hands down a couple of years back? After all, the adverts there were still as prominent and how could anyone explain the gigantic 2012/13 decrease on previous years using advertisements? A lot of people have simply stopped watching the show, and understandably so.

Saying 'omg ur so wrong but i dunno how 2 explain it!!' doesn't really do much in the way of you trying to appear more knowledgeable.
