BRENDAN O’Carroll has stood up to the Russians and said: You must keep the gay storyline if you want Mrs Brown’s Boys.
The former Superpower is the latest country to express an interest in creating their own version of the series.
The Russians tried to convince the comedian to allow them to take out the two camp characters, son Rory and his husband Dino, played by Gary Hollywood, but O’Carroll refused.
Rory Cowan, who plays Mrs Brown’s gay son Rory, revealed: “It’s already been sold to Russian and Czech television.
“They are not sure about the gay characters and Brendan is saying, ‘You are not adding or removing characters’.”
The Russians hope the show enjoys the same success as the Romanian version, called Tanti Florica.
