View Full Version : Films you don't understand
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.
I just didn't understand it?
Are there any films (or parts of films) that you didn't understand?
I also got confused with the Snape/Lily Potter thing towards the end of Harry Potter Deathly Hallows (Part II)... the patronous thing..

strange how I follow all the older movies word for word, all the cagney and bogart movies, the Charlton hston, burt Lancaster, bettie davies, Montgomery cliff, paul newman, lauren bacall movies etc the stories were brilliant, the scripts were brilliant, the acting was brilliant.....Im convinced quite a few of these more recent movies over rely on special effects to try and make up for no plot, no story, awful dialogue, very little thought, weak and lazy on detail and back story, just awful scripts and so so acting....in short theyre expensive crap movies

The Usual Suspects, I think. That sort of generally confused me throughout, though I got the ending.

Tinker,Tailor, Soldier Spy made sense in the original BBC 6 Parter (think it was 6) but the remake as a film just had no beginning, middle or end - it was AWFUL!
I need to rewatch it  otherwise I won't be able to sleep at night.. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/worried_anim.gif
Donnie Darko.
Agreed, got told it was a great film, but after watching it, I thought, what was all that sh*t about? what a load of nonsense.
Two hours of my life wasted, which I wont get back

Don't watch the movie it will never make sense no matter how many times you watch it, try to get the BBC version with Alec Guinness and watch the episodes Back to back.
Edit: it's actually in 7 parts (40 mins each) 290 mins in total running time. The film runs for 127mins and while the BBC series could do with a bit of pruning,
163 mins cut out is laughable.
