I just tried to log into facebook, but got this message....
Someone recently tried to log into your account from an unknown browser. Please review this login.
When I click continue it takes me back to the login page :bawling:
Have I been hacked? my laptop is acting a bit strange too :(
Kate!

I'd close it and set up a new one, happened to me a short while back but I was able to get back in and changed my password.

An unknown browser? Sounds a strange reason to lock the account :/ You could have just changed browsers

Check that you are trying to log into the actual facebook site and its not a phishing scam. Read the site address at the top of the page very carefully. Scammers will often purchase a domain that at a casual glance will look exactly like the site that you are trying to access, but will have a one letter difference. Something like PayPaI.com for example.

change your password ASAP
That is the last thing you should do. If its a phishing scam that is exactly what they want you to do.
Copy and paste the url onto here.
change your password ASAP
This, hurry before it's too late

Ignore me then. Change it. Good luck.
Don't change the password, do what verbal said and check the url, sounds like a scam.
The scammers already have your password now, change it quickly before they can use it

They wont have it until its entered into the page that is being shown. Thats the whole point of phishing.

Sounds like there is malicious software on your laptop. Download and run these on your laptop.

Also make sure your antivirus is up to date and run that and then set it to run on a regular basis.

Soz verbal just trying to do 600 things at once :( changed password, will download the scans now.
Kizzy if there is something nasty lurking on your laptop it might not let you download or run those files, so if you have any problems then rename them.

If you are using more than one device that is a normal warning. Normally asks you if you recognise the other device as well.

I would guess that it is a virus or whatever is on the laptop that is giving that message.
..I had a malware thing on my laptop just a few weeks ago and I reset the date back on the control panel to when it had been ok..I'm not sure if that's something you're meant to do but it worked for me and I haven't had any problems since...

If you know the date when the problems first started then a system restore rolling the PC back to before is a good thing. Not sure what resetting the clock does. Did you run system restore on the pc? Its saved my ass on a few occasions.
Off to watch football now, wont be looking here for a bit.

..yeah that's what I meant lol..system restore, I knew when it had been ok so I restored until just before that and it seemed to work...

Do you have anything on the laptop you absolutely must keep? If yes, do you have a flash drive?
If it was me I would set it back to factory settings,

Sounds like these antivirus things you've downloaded have killed you computer

They have not killed your PC. I do wish people would shut up about things they know nothing about.
You have a virus. If it told you you need to pay to use spy bot then it must be recognising that you are trying to get rid of it and is trying to get your bank details, passwords anything that it can. Either that or you downloaded the wrong thing. Do not do shopping, banking etc on the thing until its fixed.
What version of Windows do you have? You can restore it to factory settings which will delete absolutely everything including viruses and it will be like brand new the day you brought it home. Is there anything on the laptop that you absolutely must have? If so get a flash drive and save them onto it.
You can look up how to do a system restore on your version of Windows, I assume you're using Windows?
Alternatively let me know on here what version of Windows you have and I will look it up for you. I wont be on here until this afternoon though.
Getting into safe mode depends on the version of Windows that you have. Read the instructions for whatever version you have on this link http://www.computerhope.com/issues/chsafe.htm

Don't take it to PC World, they will overcharge you and do things that are not even necessary just to get money out of you. If you want to take it to a technician then look up a local independent one.

I tried the F8 thing, nothing until I switched it back on then it was like a test page.... but there was no 'safe mode' option :(
the link you gave did a scan and then at the end said the free version would fix 15 errors.... so would have to 'upgrade'. what was that then?

The link I gave is this http://download.cnet.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10122137.html
It does not run an online scan, it looks like you've tried to run one that has been put on your pc and is part of the virus. On that link click on the big green button that says download now. I've had both of those things on my PC for years.
Or just restore it to factory settings. It sounds like its really really messed up to me. After you reset it to factory settings it will be like new.
oh and spybot is COMPLETELY FREE 100% no money involved whatsoever
The other one - malware bytes there is an upgrade version that you can buy and it does give you a 'reminder' now and again, but the FREE version that you can download is more than capable of looking after a family PC

I've just downloaded this for my laptop,it looks like a good program.thanks
If you've never used it before you need to do a couple of things first and each time before you run it
Load it up so the start center comes up
Click on update and let it do its thing, it wont be up to date until you've done this
When thats done click on immunization and let that run.
Then you can run the system scan
Malware bytes is also very good, one program will often miss something that the other one will pick up. With malware bytes you will get a pop up about once a week saying you need to update it, it only takes a few seconds and its good to go.
