wont this lead to interminablke arguments, acrimony, disagreements and in some cases tennants keeping the money and leaving to live elsewhere?
I know landlords are supposedly all evil money grabbing barstewards.
but whats the actual logic of this?

I guess the admin required between moving from rented-house to rented-house would be annoying.

is that the reason? if a tennant moves house, surely they dont get paid again until theyve moved in elsewhere? how do the landlords get their money if the tennants with hold it each month?

It's once again down to people taking responsibility for themselves. If you get your rent paid and the money comes to you, then you should use that money for rent and nothing else, or face the consequences.

Nothing is ever done to make it easier for the person receiving benefits.
One has to wonder what the reasoning is behind it all, maybe a move towards a unversal rent allowance. I know that there is already a scale in place, but perhaps they are after shifting it.

If you're in receipt of Housing benefit, you can have it paid direct to your landlord.
