I have The Lord of the rings audiobooks because I don't read books that don't have mucky pictures in them and they are actually really good. You can just lie back with your eyes closed and immerse yourself in the world.

I've got LOTR in written form albeit on my kindle. I found it quite a slog to be honest. I'm more into horror, mystery, espionage those type of things.

You could always have a look on amazon, they have a massive collection of audio book CDs and then select a sub genre from there. The reviews from people can sometimes be a good indicator of quality.

Nightfall: A Jack Nightingale Supernatural Thriller

"You're going to hell, Jack Nightingale": They are words that ended his police career. Now Jack's a struggling private detective - and the chilling words come back to haunt him.
Nightingale's life is turned upside down the day that he inherits a mansion from a man who claims to be his father. It comes with a warning that Nightingale's soul was sold at birth and a devil will come to claim it on his 33rd birthday - just three weeks away.
Jack doesn't believe in Hell, but when people close to him start to die horribly, he is led to the inescapable conclusion that real evil may be at work. And that if he doesn't find a way out, he'll be damned in hell for eternity.

I loved this audiobook. The reader was excellent, and he really got the characters across well. It's funny in places but also quite spooky. The mystery is well drawn and well paced. It's the first in a series of books, of which I think there are four currently available.

Listen to the sample to see if the narrator clicks for you:)

I listened to all the Harry Potter audiobooks; they were all good. There was something about Stephen Fry doing all the voices that worked really well. I've tried a few others but cant get into them.
