I've never heard anyone pronounce it any way other than "Ken-ya"!

Never heard it called Keenya until we came back from Africa.

It was still Kenya when my late b.i.l served his time there in the army.

You never hear anyone say President Keenyata either...always Kenyata.

During the time of the Mau Mau Uprising the usual way was Keen-ya (not that many TiBBers will remember that!)
It is now more or less accepted that Ken-ya is the accepted pronunciation.

I know someone who is half Kenyan and he says Ken-ya, I think that says enough.

Notice that the Newsreel commentator (British) says Keen-ya whereas the Black female (obviously Kenyan and from a later period in time) says Ken-ya!
