View Full Version : Your driving pet peeves?
When people don't put their hand up/wave to gesture 'thank you' when you give way or let them join traffic
When people with nicer cars tail gate you

It is lmao, I hate my instructor hes so annoying & expects me to be able to do everything when I've had 1 lesson.
omg driving sounds so complicated idk how I'm ever gonna do it
it's so easy once you've passed
Yeah the not waving is the most annoying
Also:
- People who don't indicate
- People who stick religiously to the speed limit
- Middle lane hoggers on the motorway
- Not exactly a driving one but people who park right up behind you without leaving any space so you have to go forward and reverse about ten times before you can drive out
I'm sure I will think of more later

People who fly down the outside lane and then try and cut in....I never let them in
People who park over my clearly marked driveway

People who go just the speed limit (go five over, or get off the road)
People on bikes
People who take too long to turn.
People who stop at a yellow light

I don't drive but I don't get the hate for people in tne middle lane.
If you don't want to go particularly fast or slow is it not just logical to stay in the middle?

I don't drive so does someone parking in the middle of two spaces or just generally not parking quite close to the next person so there's room for more people on a road count

when someone starts crossing the street right before the light changes, and then they walk casually as if they don't even notice that the light has changed.
..people who park inconsiderately generally and people who drive too close to you when the roads are obviously slippery...
I wish we would get a rural cycle route around where I live because the cyclists make it really dangerous on the roads
..we have one but they just don't use it though..I was talking to someone who is a member of a cycling club about it a while ago and he said that he didn't use it because he felt it was more dangerous because of the speed they go and potentially running into families/children etc..

It's logical but the inside lane is for driving and the outside lane(s) are for overtaking. If you drive to the letter if the law you should drive in the inside lane then if you come up to a middle lane hogger and you are going faster than them you have to swing out over two lanes to overtake them as it is illegal to undertake therefore it is more dangerous. You often find middle lane hoggers are nervous drivers who don't like to overtake so pootle along there causing other drivers to cross multiple lanes just to get round them.
..also there are cyclists who around 4/5pm in winter time, don't wear any high visibility stuff and even wear black or dark colours...(and no lights on their bikes....)...

Cyclists who use the road when there's a perfectly good and brand new cycle lane running parallel for them gggrrr
People who block the fast lane
People who cut out in front of you really fast from another road and then drive about 10mph once they're out
People who don't indicate

..this, this and more this...that's what I mean, the cycle lane where I live is literally a few feet from the road..(which is narrow..)..and much safer yet cyclists very rarely use it...?...

Same here, we have a really good, brand new cycle lane running parallel with the road, the whole way from the town next to mine to my town but they still insist on holding up traffic and using the road, it annoys me so much
Annoying on narrow roads when you meet someone come the other day and it's clearly more convenient for them to reverse into somewhere so you can pass but they just sit there waiting for you to do it

..did you read my earlier post..?..I was talking to someone in a cycle club and he said that he felt it safer to ride on the road..(a bad overtaking road..) rather than the cycle path as there were families using that and the speed some cyclists go, they could knock a child off a bike but I really don't understand that reasoning for it to be safer on the road though...

..I know of a situation when that created a 'stalemate' and both drivers got a book out and started to read it, refusing to move/give way...incredible ...

In other words, he doesn't want to have to slow down if someone gets in his way, he would rather cars have to slow down and pile up behind him then be in anyway inconvenienced himself. Imo, cyclists should be penalized for using the road when there's a cycle lane available

Oh yeah, especially when they're expecting you to reverse back around a corner

..yeah that's what I thought/and said because there is a place where you have to cross the road as the cycling lane is on both sides and you have to 'change' sides halfway through..(does that makes sense..)..and having to stop and wait for traffic on a relatively busy road just wouldn't do at all...I also hate it when they weave lanes in town and don't stop or go on the curb at traffic lights...

Cyclists on the road. Get off it!!
Tailgaters - I don't see the point of it to be honest, it just makes me slow down to about 15mph while I watch and laugh at them raging through my rear view mirror
People that don't indicate
People that don't 'let you out' next time you're out watch for the type of cars that do this, its always the people driving the executive type cars that wont let you out. Wankers!
People who think its funny to press the button on the crossing after they've used it, so as they're walking down the road they're laughing at you sat at a red light with nobody crossing.
Other drivers. All of them.

I do this as well, or keep putting my foot on the brakes, that usually solves the problem :joker:

But thats what they want you to do. Its far more satisfying to slow down. They will either sit there going red in the face and screaming or over take you, at which point you can laugh at them as they pass.
I take people tailgating as a challenge so try and speed up and get away from them
..my OH says that, especially when they are police cars...
..oh and the other thing is, people who still drive when they're on the phone and don't use headsets..(even when they do, they're still distracted..)...and also the ones who do stop to use it but they don't wait and pull over properly where there is a proper place but just stop in the road to take or make a phone call...pfffft....
I too slow down for tailgaters and when they try to overtake I speed up. Lol

People who are turning right and they don't leave enough room for cars carrying straight on.
People who don't indicate.
Taxi Drivers - they really annoy me. The other day some taxi driver just stopped in the middle of a busy road and had a chat with some guy on the pavement and I couldn't go round him because I was near the roundabout and couldn't reverse onto it.
When I'm on National Speed Limit roads and someone is driving at like 30mph.
When people don't turn their full beam lights off when they pass you.
When people don't thank you when you let them out.
Single lane roads. I was once on this horrible road that was only big enough for one car, and it was really steep and windy, and I came to this car and he expected me to reverse back quite a way so he could pass, when there was a passing point right next to him!!
Selfish drivers.
When I'm trying to turn right onto a road, the people on the main road don't let you out and block you in, when they could've left a small gap for me.
People who wait in Keep Clear areas...
Basically drivers in general.. I always get mad when I drive.

For Tailgaters, I keep my right foot on the accelerator and activate the brake lights with my left foot.
