Ideally, given the choice, which would you prefer and why?

Are you happy with where you live right now or would a change do you good? Discuss?

I live and have always lived in the middle of a City. If I was offered a cottage in the middle of nowhere i'd take it in a second.

I am so happy where I am now..in the middle of nowhere surrounded by fields and trees basically.

But I think I'm going to have to move back to gateshead. Its too much of a pain living so far away from work :(

We are very lucky, we live quite rural.
Countryside on or doorstep and yet a couple of good sized towns nearby.

Lived in the same house for 20 years so we must really like it, a good area with very low crime rate and everyone looks after their properties.

If we won a substantial amount on the lottery we would buy a cottage in the Dales...perfect peace.

Have always lived in a really small village and love the way of life there, would hate to live in a city I think, too bleak and anonymous, much better being a proper local in a good community

I live out in the countryside and ideally I'd like to be closer to a town but I do quite like the peacefulness of being away from it all too.

I live in a nice place it's a town but still very rural if you know what I mean,it's very pretty,I DO prefer cities though and if I get the chance to live in NY I would take it in a heartbeat.

City girl at heart....although now I live in a more rural area it still has great links to the City and Manchester is only a short drive away. I couldn't do City living now but I like being close enough to go in whenever I want

City life by far, countryside is scary/boring/depressing/smells

I live in Newcastle but not the town centre that wud be far too hectic for me, its quite noisy where I live as theres an industrial estate across the road but on the plus side theres a huge countryside park just over another road from me and also an asda on the doorstep and a pub again across a road. The most ridiculous thing is I cant get a bus into town from where I live on a night time. There used to be one but they for some reason took it off, yes theres the metro (tube) about 10 minute walk up a bank but I don't like the metro.
I always thought id love to live in the middle of nowhere until a few years ago we went on holiday in a carava in devon which was up the road from hell, a very steep winding road which wasn't one way but shud have been, @ the caravan park there was a small swimming pool a games room a park and a shop. no pub, nothing apart from a few houses and loads of fields and woods for miles. I was so bored.
so Id like to live kind of rural but within easy reach of the town centre.
