Shame :( fifth year with the same one, I hoped with all the other changes they'd fork out for a new one

There are new stairs either side of the upper stage which look new? However pointless unless for specific performance?? Don't like the purple graphics on screen hope they change that for life shows!!

I don't see how they could improve or re-vamp the set any better imo. It's nice how it is.

I agree with Braden I mean who tf cares it's fine
I preferred the one they had up until 2008 anyway

The stairs are props for a performance, it hasn't changed at all from last year

You could have said that for the series 3 - 5 set too but they went all out on a new one for S6, I agree it's a nice set but it's refreshing for it to be changed every few series

Also I know not everyone cares about the set and to the casual viewer it's irrelevant but there are some people who are interested in the way TV shows are produced so don't be surprised if on a TV forum you get people talking about stuff like sets, titles and graphics :p

I am somebody who likes the aesthetics of TV shows. Making it look presentable is an important part of how professional it comes across...I just think it looks really good now.

I do agree that sometimes change is good, so I do see where you're coming from.

I was actually thinking that having the contestants perform on a stage shaped like an X would be a good idea. I liked it on the American version.

Considering that's what all the performances are done on and where the entire show is presented from, you do

But still, if you aren't interested in set design why would you enter a thread about it?

Fair enough, I do really like the current set I just think after four years it'd be nice to get a new one, especially with all the other changes they've made (most of which I haven't actually liked) :p

Yeah I saw the Four Chair Challenge set yesterday and was impressed, much better than our Bootcamp set. Series 1 in the UK had an X shaped stage as you can see, I actually quite like it, it just looks a bit bare that's all

I wonder if the US will have a new liveshow set and the XFUK will switch to that set next year? There's been so many changes to the show this year I'm expecting them to have a new set. (It's been a set similar to the UK version. Although the first season didn't include the stairs in the back and the US has had the screens on the sides of the stage since the first season.)

The 4 chair challenge and graphics have been the only noticable changes. (They've color coded the catergories and the graphics no longer include throwing text at the screen. Like last year no announcer but Mario summarizes the show and narrates the action.)

I like the stage TXF uses when they have the live final from Wembley or recently Manchester. That's huge and is shaped like an X.

Hm, looks a little bit different in this pic :suspect: wonder if that circular podium is a prop or permanent

Maderz
11-10-2013, 07:44 PM
I'm pretty certain that's permanent. It has been mentioned somewhere on twitter that the set includes a new satellite stage and a new backstage area.

Braden
11-10-2013, 07:50 PM
Yeah, I think that's where Caroline speaks to everyone once they've finished?

Jarrod
11-10-2013, 08:08 PM
This means that they've reduced the audience a little doesn't it? Didn't they have an audience there?

Jack_
11-10-2013, 08:08 PM
Ew I want Caroline's interviews done backstage not near the set, Dermot needs to remain up front on his own

Maderz
11-10-2013, 08:19 PM
Something I've noticed is the screen to the right. In every picture posted showing it, it is in its open state. Someone suggested this was a new doorway, but it's always been able to open like that as with the same screen on the opposite side. But a couple things to back this up is the position of the strobe lights between the 2 screens as they are closer to the screens than the ones on the left side of the stage . There also looks to be a camera coming through the opening which might mean some new camera angles.

Yep, they're doing the same twist we had in series 8 where each judge cuts one act to make a top 12 before America starts voting next week. They've done it each season over there I believe

So the four in each category stands in one corner, and it lights up white if their mentor picks them to go through

Will be interesting to see how they do the actual results next week :D

I think it'll continue next week, except the acts will walk out the monitor like usual to their corners.

It seems to work pretty well over there in comparison to how it flopped here (Amelia I'm looking at you).

I'm guessing one category on each arm of the X for the voting proper. Will look flawless though

They also showed one VT of the Mentor with the acts of their catergory and then went straight into the performances. With the Typical Glamshot and Mentor Introduction.

I missed the start of the show, did Mario/the judges walk out of the double door in the middle as usual?

And the top left and right corners of the X have monitor doors leading from them don't they?

If the UK version really is renewed till 2016, our set better be like this next year. It reminds me of the Wembley/Liverpool set from our past 2 finals

Just Mario after a dialogue where he introdcued the catergories from backstage. then came out from the middle screen. I dunno about the side screens.

Also the mentor's category name is still there on the table from the 4 chair challenge.

I don't either but I guess it's there because people are used to the Voice. They sort of do it on the US version when an artist performs there's a Team *Coach's Name* in the lower left corner.

I think the reason why the X is more prevalent this series is because of the Voice's Mic.

(The US version is very popular overhere)

Oh and when an act was announced safe, the corner they stood on turned white and they played the stinger,

Joelle.
30-10-2013, 02:47 AM
The Voice seems massively popular over there, our version will be lucky if it lasts one more series. The BBC just don't know what to do with it so it's flopped

BBfanUSA
30-10-2013, 02:51 AM
The US Version has two seasons a year in fact.

Fall has Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera, Ceelo green
Spring has Shakira and Usher replacing Christina and Ceelo

There'll probably more artists rotating in and out as the show goes on.

.

Jack_

The Voice UK just has terrible production values and is ultimately dull, say what you want about Syco shows but one thing they are is very slickly produced

Joelle.
30-10-2013, 02:59 AM
The Voice should have gone to ITV really, they would have known what to do with it.

It'll be interesting to see Series 3 of ours with Kylie instead of Jessie J. Will.i.am and Tom Jones are still there so it's a better line up this time I think. Not that that ever did anything for The X Factor.

Next year The X factor can moves to the Pinewood for have a big set like USA

BBfanUSA
17-11-2013, 03:27 AM
and by the way, in case you were wondering how the show reveals results this year

It's the usual way, except each category stands on one corner of the X, on a platform with the category name under it, mentor is standing with them. Like the 4 chair challenge without the chairs. Corner turns white if act is safe from red like Top 16 show

They do not walk out of the monitor in the middle for results but there's still the music from season 2 and Mario introducing the categories. For the singoff they did walkout but there wasn't any noticeable change in the graphics.

Also the US version has a "Sky" cam this year sometimes going over the set. Was used a lot for the results.

I assume that when the semi and finals come around the acts will probably be standing in a row.

Marsh.

Didn't UK X Factor have an x-shaped stage in its first series?
