Simon Cowell is allegedly considering a return to The X Factor in 2014.

The former head judge is in line to replace Gary Barlow for the 11th run of the ITV talent show, according to The Sun. Cowell departed from the UK edition after the 2010 series and has since concentrated on the US version on Fox.

The tabloid reports that Cowell could earn up to £50 million each year should he decide to return in 2014.

However, he will reportedly only announce a return should the US edition be cancelled after its current season.

Gary Barlow revealed his decision to leave The X Factor after three years last night (October 12).

Louis Walsh has also confirmed that he will quit the show after this year's run, while Sharon Osbourne has hinted that her return will only last one year.

Give the show a rest I say.

It's got to the point where it's in need of a break, just like Big Brother.

It seems like the perfect time to end it really. It's the 10th anniversary, 3 of the judges are leaving after this series and the contract runs out.

No doubt 'Cash Cow'ell will see things differently...

Why would he end it if it is still pulling in 9 million viewers? :conf:

If Simon were to return the viewing figures would go back up.

Please let this be true! Not only because he might be coming back, but because the US version might be cancelled! I actually can't watch that version, too many changes and no judges houses this year!

Yeah there's no way they'd cancel it unless the ratings took a severe dive. Yes it used to peak at 11 to 12+ million and now only pulls in 8 or 9... but let's face it... What else is going to achieve anywhere near 8 million viewers for ITV on a Saturday night? It's not the "Saturday night family telly" powerhouse it was 15 or 20 years ago (when it totally dominated with Blind Date, Gladiators, etc.) and if it ended the X factor, it would simply be gifting millions of viewers to the BBC.
