I agree with this to a point....there was an article in our local paper last year about an Asian landlord who would only rent to Asian tenants. He defended his reasoning as wanting to help Asian tenants who faced racism and difficulties elsewhere. Swings and roundabouts I guess. Just to clarify I don't agree but it does happen across all ethnicities by the looks of it.

It reminds me of taxi drivers in New York City not stopping to pick up black passengers, even black drivers are less likely to stop for black passengers. It's a hard thing to regulate.

If the landlord is racist, would you as a minority really want to live there anyway though? I was reading about a reception hall that is being sued for refusing to host a gay wedding reception, as a gay person i don't want to use a bigot's reception hall anyway. Why would i want to be giving my money to someone i know is a bigot?

If he'd been trying to buy a PS3 or an expensive phone for about the same price and had said he'd saved up the money I dont the shop assistants would have treated the way they did but the fact that it was an accessory that is considered a luxury for rich people then suddenly the assistant mind starts working overtime and they call the police.
