Eliminated X Factor singer Lorna Simpson has branded the show a fix.

The Over 25s performer became the first to leave this year’s competition in Sunday night’s results, and has hit out at the way she was treated on the show.

And in a series of interviews after her exit, Lorna claimed: “They know the outcome of the whole competition. It’s prepared.

“It’s TV and they have to be ahead.”

Speaking to The Sun newspaper, Lorna branded her portrayal and lack of air time on the show as “unfair”.

“X Factor set me up to go out in the first week. They underplayed me… it was set up,” she accused bosses.
“It was like I jumped from the audition room to Boot Camp. Of course I sat there with my family ready to watch episodes but my arena audition wasn’t ever shown.

“I had backstage talks and loads of fun stuff, even filming at the house — but none of it was shown.”

Lorna added: “In all my auditions, I nailed everything and had perfect comments. I could have been given a lot more air time.”

The X Factor continues Saturday and Sunday nights on ITV.

She seems bitter about being eliminated, but most of the stuff she's saying is probably true anyway and we always talk on here about producer manipulation etc.

So true

She's right, but now I question why she chose to enter the competition in the first place?

This has happened to other contestants.

Tbh she got a sh**y edit and it's obvious the edit helps build fanbases throughout the competition.

I have little sympathy for anyone entering what is primarily an entertainment driven TV programme who then complains when they become one of the 'victims' of such an unsurprising procedure. At the end of the day you've just had the opportunity to perform to ten million people, if that isn't a big enough platform for you then I don't know what is.

Pimping certain contestants and leaving others as fodder, sending home singers that are considered to be more talented than those that are seen as 'joke acts', and having exaggerated, contrived drama are all part and parcel of shows like this. If you don't want that kind of thing, then watching in or indeed partaking in a show like X Factor really isn't for you.

She was treated vilely though, papers were gunning for her (excuse the pun) and they never showed her numbers

If you're going to enter a musical talent contest that is created by a television production company (the two completely juxtapose each other) for broadcast in primetime entertainment slots on the biggest commercial channel in this country, I really don't think you can be expected to be treated all that well, it's like signing a deal with the devil  like, unless the big bosses think you're going to draw audiences and have legions of fans and then in Cowell's eyes sell records, of course they're going to forget about you, it's a business

I mean don't get me wrong I love the show but come on, surely no one watches X Factor as some bonafide talent show with musical integrity? It's an entertainment show, don't be surprised when it does things and pimps certain people to get certain reactions and to get certain results from its audience

I don't agree with papers gunning for her and I never do with any act but that's not really anything to do with the show, more newspaper culture in general

I don't think the numbers thing affected her result either, she survived the flash vote :suspect:

She was shafted ( ;) ) for being in a porno and posing with guns, that's why she had no airtime and was offed so quickly.

If anything she should be thankful she made the lives cause I really didn't think she would. Sure it's not exactly fair she wasn't given equal airtime but what was she expecting taking part in a TV show as big as this?

Like I said getting to perform live to 10m people isn't that bad a gig, even if it was just for a week

If anything she should be more bitter, the show not even showing her numbers, or giving her a single close up during the group performance :laugh3:

oh well nvm.

:joker:

She got as much coverage as most hasn't she, plus she got the same number of minutes to sing, in fact she got to sing again, she wasn't popular with the viewers end of.

Maybe the porn industry might appreciate her performance better.

She could do The XXX Factor, but instead of performing with a microphone....

MeMyselfAndI
15-10-2013, 07:24 PM
She had by far the least coverage :laugh2:

Girls
Hannah, Tamera & Abi all had loads & loads!! Especially Hannah & Tamera, for all three we saw every single audition.

Boys
Luke & Nicholas had loads & loads, Sam not so much ,but we did see every single audition for all three.

Groups
Miss Dynamix! - Well manufactured at bootcamp and still had more footage than Lorna despite having 3 less auditions, Rough Copy - loads & loads!!!!! Kingsland, the same!

Overs
Sam & Shelly - loads! Saw all auditions

Lorna - 30 second first audition, Arena audition = NOT SHOWN AT ALL, bootcamp - a small segment, judges houses, small segment, Live shows, flowing with dancers & awful style & awful song choice, which she had no choice in both

Also every single contestant bar Lorna's phone numbers were shown each time, hardly the same treatment in many ways

I get some people don't like her, but she was treated terribly by the show & I think she has a right to be bitter

Actually screw what I said... Little Mix didn't really have much airtime until JH so

Wasn't that because they were only put together at bootcamp though?

Yeah, their first performance together was at JH

Lorna had more airtime than Little Mix leading up to Live Shows

Sour grapes. She was a barely above average singer and the worst of all of the solo females - including Abi who I generally dislike. And this isn't even a great year for X-factor solo girls, tbh.

So, err... Was she expecting to win? She may just have to accept that she's not very good? If she had stood out vocally none of the exposure, etc. Would have mattered, nor even the song choice or styling. Her voice is plain, she went home, end of sobstory.

Yeah but you have to understand her point of view. It seemed like the producers had already chosen 11 finalists before the episodes had even aired, and then decided on the 12th one (Lorna) a few days before Sharon's JH and they just drafted her into the spare 40 seconds during each round that would've gone to some other joke act. I'd be pretty pissed if I were her, because she basically had 0 chance at winning compared to people like Tamera, Sam Bailey, Hannah etc.

But I understand what you're saying too. If she wanted to get equal airtime to everyone else and be in a serious singing programme, then she should've gone for The Voice (although XF generates more viewers, meaning more exposure and recognition - or at least she thought so anyway :joker:)

She wouldnt have got through the first stage on The Voice, because her voice is ten a penny.

I didn't see the show until Monday,I don't like the flashvote nonsense, however Shelley would have been in my bottom 2 on the night.
In the sing off though, for me, Shelley performed much better than Lorna so for me the right person went on Sunday.

It also didn't surprise me that Sharon had 2 in the bottom 2, she always sends the wrong acts home at judges houses and she is lucky to have Sam Bailey there for her really.

Marc

Sharon had the potential of getting all of her acts through the first few weeks had she picked the better people at JH rather than 3 shouty women. Joseph would have stayed a few weeks and Andrea might have stayed until at least week 3 with some potential of really improving and gaining more fans (same for Joseph). Although Shelley is likeable she isn't really that good so she'll most likely be off come Sunday

The only interesting part of Sunday will be who is B2 with her
