Chippy just sounds like someones dog on Brookside. Here on the Northside of Cork we call them chippers as one should.

The fish and chip shop, because chicken + chip shops are also popular here and they're totally different so you have to like distinguish if you get what I mean

..we probably call it the...you decide what to have and I’ll go with that so long as it isn’t fish and chips shop...
..as when we do have a takeaway, it’s the one we all least like to have...I think the only reason why we ever have it is because it’s the only takeaway in the village ..that sounded very Little Britian...’I’m the only takeaway in the village..’..so yeah....
