I seen an article yesterday saying the black widows are here too now, they came over on boats and some were found under a campervan too.

There is huge scare mongering going on in the press, especially in the south. They've been in this country for over 100 years. The female will bite if it feels threatened. Which isnt a situation the vast majority of people are going to ever be in. Yes it can be deadly if you're allergic. But a Wasp sting could also kill you if you're allergic.

It seems like their bite can hurt but it's only if you have a reaction to it, then you'd need to goto hospital, other than that they're no worse than wasps.
And they will only try to bite you if you hassle them, they don;t go out of their way to bite people unless they feel threatened.

I am not a scientist, but in my opinion they are doing nothing they havent done for the past 100 years. Just some dopey bastard has been bitten and the country is all of a sudden in the midst of a spider apocalypse.

The press seem to have jumped on this story and sensationalised it!
They have been here in Cardiff for as long as I can remember BUT......
This summer I got my first experience of a false widows little runts who were born in my flat somewhere behind my pile of books.
I never kill spiders or flies but there was literally 60 of them so squished them against the wall and painted over them :) it was for the best.
A few escaped the jesus dap though and I have seen 2 pretty large ones in the corner and cautiously put them outside..Well chucked them from a three story building (doubt they would die though seeing as they are so light).
They are everywhere and its not a new thing. If any of you live on a tree lined street like me look up when you walk down your street daily and you will see them.
To be honest theres probably more danger from wasp stings than the spiders.
*Hopes I haven't just jinxed myself.

Bee stings and even peanuts can pose more of a danger if you are extremely allergic to them!
" Anaphylaxis is a severe, potentially life-threatening allergic reaction. It can occur within seconds or minutes of exposure to something you're allergic to, such as a peanut or the venom from a bee sting.
The flood of chemicals released by your immune system during anaphylaxis can cause you to go into shock; your blood pressure drops suddenly and your airways narrow, blocking normal breathing. Signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis include a rapid, weak pulse, a skin rash, and nausea and vomiting. Common triggers of anaphylaxis include certain foods, some medications, insect venom and latex.
Anaphylaxis requires an immediate trip to the emergency department and an injection of epinephrine. If anaphylaxis isn't treated right away, it can lead to unconsciousness or even death."

My flat just had French doors fitted and every window has been open to get rid of the fresh paint toxins and there are these things everywhere.
Safe to say when I move in on Monday I will be on full alert.
Don't kill them though ffs there must be thousands of people killing them from the media hysteria its like the Jews all over again.
Just carefully get a large glass and chuck it out half way up your street or on someone you hates doorstep.
