Every year the website does a counter-measure to the Mercury Prize for pop songs - I think British ones to be specific - where they meet in a pub and argue about it for a while and give twenty quid to the one voted the best.
This year's nominees are...
CHVRCHES - The Mother we Share
Disclosure - White Noise
Duke Dumont - Need U 100%
Mutya Keisha Siobhan - Flatline
Little Mix - DNA
Girls Aloud - Something New
One Direction - Kiss You
Olly Murs - Dear Darlin'
The Saturdays - Gentleman (!!!?!)
Petula Clark - Cut Copy Me
VV Brown - The Apple
Robbie Williams - Candy
now yes this is a very good list of songs with maybe 2 exceptions but which one gets your vote

CHVRCHES were my favourites from this years Sound of 2013, and I really quite liked the album a lot, totally my sort of thing, so would like them.
But aren't Popjustice massive Sugababes fans? So I can see MKS getting it.
I can feel a flatline that oughta be a wave

Mini Viva were robbed in 2010 though  that £20 could have kept their career going for a little while longer  (like how all 3 of their songs featured in the lineup pmsl)

Okay but if we have to pretend Flatline isn't the best song on the list where are you all ranking it?

Why are GA always nominated
Shaun

because they're always amazing

The only good songs up there are No Good Advice (their best song ) and Call the Shots although that's kind of dull

Biology >
Me. I Am Salman
24-10-2013, 07:58 PM
Ew that's cheesy
Biology >
Biology's never clicked with me. I know a lot of people think it's their best song for a variety of reasons but I'd put it near the bottom of their singles discography

The Sugababes (ignoring anything 2009+) >>>> GA :idc:
The Sugababes (ignoring anything 2009+) >>>> GA :idc:
I guess it depends what you want in a pop act. Not that it comes up particularly often, but if I were asked to compare them, I wouldn't, because the only thing they really have in common is that they're both pop groups consisting of women.
Girls Aloud have amazing visuals, are glamorous, attractive, have fun songs and generally have the better discography if you want to put on a party playlist.
Sugababes (and their continuation in the form of MKS) at their peak were effortlessly cool, had amazing harmonies, meaningful song lyrics, could switch between styles and were always going to have the longer careers because they're singer-songwriters, not celebrities standing behind microphones. They've maintained careers without becoming a tabloid band.
