Children In Need: Torvill and Dean turn rivals for charity dance-off

Legendary ice dance duo Torvill and Dean are competing against each other in a dance competition - off the ice rink.

The Dancing On Ice stars will swap ice skates for ballroom dance shoes when they pair up with Strictly Come Dancing's James Jordan and Aliona Vilani in a one-off performance for the BBC's Children in Need appeal next month.

With a glitterball in the shape of Pudsey Bear at stake, the figure-skating champions will have a week to learn a routine, which they'll each perform to a medley of tunes.

Their dance-off will be screened during the Children in Need appeal show on November 15, during an evening-long broadcast.

Torvill and Dean on 'Strictly Come Dancing': First pictures

Dancing On Ice star Torvill and Dean will swap the ice rink for the ballroom as part of a special Children in Need version of Strictly Come Dancing.

Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean will compete against each other in a battle on the dancefloor in a segment, which will air on the fundraising broadcast on Friday, November 15.

Pro dancers Aliona Vilani and James Jordan will team up with the Winter Olympics duo and teach them a routine, which they will have to perform in front of a studio audience.

Strictly hosts Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly will host the special event.

Torvill and Dean do 'Strictly Come Dancing' for Children in Need - video

Ice-skating legends Torvill and Dean took to the Strictly Come Dancing dancefloor tonight (November 15) in aid of Children in Need.

The 1984 gold medalists performed a dance medley with show professionals James Jordan and Aliona Vilani in front of a studio audience made up entirely of children.

Torvill emerged the victor after winning both Goodman and Bruno Tonioli's votes.

"I'm really thrilled," she said, "but I have to say I want to share it with Chris (Dean).

"I'll have it six months and he can have it six months."
