The girl strikes me as being a bit conceited but there are far worse teen role models out there and she's only a young'un so ... whatever, really.

I'm not a massive fan but it's piss easy to see why Royals done as well as it did. It's catchy and ethereal sounding and it's got a weird, beautiful looking young adult at the helm who is acting drastically different to say a Miley Cyrus.

The video is hilarious as well. It seems to be a long sequence of Eastern Europeans being bored on their day off.

The thing is she isn't interesting. She's been scouted by a major label and been written up as this massive "alternative" character when in fact she's just as much of an industry pawn as Cyrus.

Her songwriting is average at best and there're countless better artists making music.

I'll give her Royals, it's a pretty good song [not #1-worthy but still], and there're a couple of other decent ones (400 Lux, Tennis Court), but there're also terrifically dull ones.

The best thing about Royals is drunk people singing the chorus. There is the first "royals" which one person sings then about 12 other people do the choir, high pitched "royalllllllllllllllls!" complete with jazz hands in the air.

I've experienced this. It's quite something.
