A toddler relation died and my parents had photograph of the baby in a silver frame on top of the TV. It would come flying off it and land halfway across the room as if somebody had thrown it, on quite a regular basis and when we were all sitting there. I witnessed it with my own eyes.

That was a Poltergeist!
Edit: ...and if you were pre-puberty you were probably the cause of the energy

Don't know what it was, but its something that definitely happened. I always got a feeling as if somebody was watching me when alone, randomly around the house. Although that is probably nothing more than an over active imagination and too many horror films.:joker:

I've been to one Ordsall Hall in Salford, it's been on Most Haunted. We didn't see a thing. It was rubbish, no cold patches or strange noises...

We had a friendly spirit in our last house.
The only one it spooked was our son. He would not go in his sisters room to play.
A cloud of "steam/mist" used to hover over our daughter when she slept.
I never mentioned it to hubby, then one night it was on the stairs, I could not see the top of the landing it was that thick. I went in and told hubby I was sick of it..he did not laugh as I half expected, instead he was relieved, he had come in off night shift a few times and had seen "steam" in the kitchen.
We never felt threatened by it in any way and daughter seemed totally oblivious to it.
My mother visited me in this house not long after she died, quite surprising really as we were not close.

Most of these "apparitions" and Poltergeist actions can be traced back to smaller (in age) children.
Edit: NOT that THEY deliberately cause them, they are the conducting energy.

It wasnt to be honest. I don't remember anyone freaking out, not even my mother. I think they found it kind of comforting, in a weird way. 'Oh its him again'
..I do have a 'scary story' of an old cottage we once stayed at in Devon..but it's not really scary in a way because there was a pool/snooker table there in the oldest part of the house and every night my brother said he heard the snooker balls clacking together...so it was a friendly 'ghost' I guess, who liked to have a game of snooker....

i used to live in one. we had a ghost that used to walk past all the time. everybody who came around would see it and say someones coming in and we'd say no its the ghost of course everytime they never believed us until no one came in then they get scared. especially when they see it again . funny the amount of people and those who wouldn't come back.
i guess poltergeists must just attack small children hence why so many movies seem to have that. when i was a kid i had one in the house, it got so bad they had to get a priest in and crucifixes on the wall etc. it wasn't pretty i can remember a lot of it.

There was this abandoned Polish camp somewhere nearby that became a bit of a legend among our college and others in the area, lots of people would go to explore it at night time (it was all one level, and split into many rows of buildings, it was quite like a maze).
It was pretty creepy (although mostly because we'd try to scare each other ), there were loads of rusty wheelchairs, gurneys, beds and torn-up books... but they demolished it a couple of years back because it was structurally unsafe.
Some pics I found online:

Not really going anywhere with it, but it seems that children can act as conduits for energy (call them spirits if you want) to be released inside of houses usually put down to Poltergeist activity.

I worked in a haunted school, in the summer hols we would often hear violins playing etc and only us 4 cleaners were there. one day me and gary had just gone in he had mad e a cuppa before we started in was in the summer hols, anyway only us and the caretaker in and we heard a woman singing it was just 4 notes la la la la we looked @ each other kinda laughed and said *did u hear that?* I said oh it will be pat and Sharon the other 2 cleaners they will have come in, so we went to the main door and they were just coming down the drive so no way could it have been them! the school was an all girls private school and back in the 60s it was a kids home ran by nuns (some not so nice) it was a big old building and where we heard the singing was the assembly hall which was a kid of old church. The whole top floor didn't get used @ all and @ one time used to be a hospital for old people I swear im getting shivers down my spine thinking about it as if u ever went up there it was freezing and had an awful feel about it. The basement had a large cage in it apparently where the nuns put the naughty kids. There was loads of other stuff happened as well but that was the most interesting thing.
