There will be no flash vote on The X Factor 2013 tonight, after bosses decided to ditch the controversial twist.
The X Factor’s spectacular Live Shows are set to continue tonight with the finalists lining up to perform in front of the live studio audience and millions of viewers at home.
In the fourth live show of the series, the contestants are aiming to get into the groove and strut their stuff as the theme is Disco.
This year saw the introduction of a new dramatic new “FLASH VOTE” at the end of the show. Once every contestant had performed, voting lines opened for under ten minutes, giving viewers the opportunity to save their favourite act from the bottom two.
After voting lines had closed and the votes were counted and verified, and the contestant with the lowest number of votes will be revealed and told that they face the sing-off on the Sunday night.
Voting lines for the remaining contestants then reopened until Sunday night’s show where the second contestant to face the sing off will be revealed.
However, ITV has confirmed that tonight’s latest show won’t see any flash vote.
Instead, there will be a special live performance from Nile Rogers and Chic, who will open the show with a medley of disco hits.
It follows reports suggesting that X Factor boss Simon Cowell was unhappy with the ratings, with the ITV show losing out in the weekend ratings battle to Strictly come Dancing.
A source explained: “The Flash Vote isn’t quite working as expected, it is a new thing that the producers wanted to try but now they’re thinking of moving a live act to fill the time slot and go back to the one act on the Sunday as well as the reveal of who the bottom two contestants are.”
