Used to get a lot more into these shows when I was a kid so my favourite winners are from the earlier series, was well happy when Will Young in particular

Will Young is brilliant, probably the best British male popstar to have emerged since the turn of the century. There's just something undeniably great about him, there's some depth there, he's not just somebody who can sing, which is something you could describe quite a few of the names in the poll as being...

Girls Aloud are obviously amazing, they overcame a lot of odds and their music is undeniable.

Little Mix are really cool. I like that there's no lead singer among them, at least not yet anyway. I hope they stay like that for as long as possible, I think they'll be the next great girl band in British history.

Leona Lewis is of course the greatest success story of all... call her boring all you like, it doesn't detract from her talent or the fact she's just a really lovely girl with an incredible singing voice - she's the definition of what these shows should be about. There have been many great singers on these shows, but she's the best of them all, she's just so effortless in her delivery, and then when you hear her speak and discover that she's a really humble, quiet girl and not some insane diva... well, I think it's endearing.

Objectively he had a good voice but he was so painfully not cut out to be a popstar. He screamed West End musical singer. Olly Murs wasn't exactly ideal either but he's a passable popstar, he really ought to have won that series.

Alexandra's good, she's just too overdramatic to be likeable enough to maintain a career. First winner of the show who was a phenomenal singer who could also be a popstar, she danced, she learned choreography for her weekly performances... but she came across as cocky and full of herself and I think that was her undoing when it came to staying on the good side of music industry people.

I bloody loved Nadine Coyle back in the day, her version of Fields of Gold is so beautiful. I don't like how she became a diva over the years, there's a real difference in her appearance and facial expressions comparing her now to when they first started out... one of the best girl group voices ever though. It's a crying shame her solo career didn't get the success that Cheryl's had.
