While we were going hands on with The Order 1886 at E3 2014, GamingBolt’s Leonid Melikov bumped into Naughty Dog’s Studio Coordinator Rodney Reece and Lead FX Artist Keith Guerrette. Although we were not able to conduct a full fledged interview with them, the duo were able to confirm a few interesting points about the trailer for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.

They confirmed to us that the Uncharted 4 trailer showcased during Sony’s E3 2014 press conference was a part of an actual level in game. Secondly, they also confirmed that the entire trailer was running in real time on the PlayStation 4 and it was all in-engine.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End does not have a release date yet but it’s confirmed for a 2015 launch. The game will be available exclusively for the PlayStation 4.

I remember the first Uncharted's graphics. Those graphics were immense back then. Still are in a way. But back then, really did show what the PS3 could do. First game that did so.

Wish they'd showed some gameplay of Uncharted 4.

Yeah, fingers crossed they show some at Gamescom, or sometime later this year.

So, basically, its been confirmed that the cutscene we saw was in the actual gameplay engine, they're no longer using seperate systems for the two. Apparently part of how they're achiveing it is basically, rendering a little less as you're further away from Nate, camera wise, and more when it's a close up, something magic like that, lol. Obviously, that means Nate wont be as detailed in gameplay (not that he really needs to be that detailed) but the enviroment will be somewhat similar.

To be honest, when the trailer reached this part, I did kinda think it was transitioning into gameplay

Wonder if after this Uncharted we get a new protagonist. Hopefully this isn't the last Uncharted and if it isn't that it's not just prequels from here on in.

I could see it being the last Uncharted as ND are in pre-production for a new IP already. So if they do make another Uncharted after 4, it'll probably be a 2018/19 sort of timeframe, maybe 2017 at the earliest, lol.

Would seem weird to end it on 4 rather than to of decided to end it as a trilogy. Sincerely hope it isn't the end, however a new IP from ND would be welcomed.

True, it's just the trailer and subtitle feel very ominous, then again, they probably want us to think that, lol. ND do have sort of two internal studios, so if they do make another Uncharted it could actually be out earlier lol.

Speaking to IGN, Nolan North explained that as far as he's aware this is the last title that Naughty Dog want to do in the series, and admitted he hopes no one else tries to continue the story without the studio.

Ah, well, in a way, I'm happy, its a fantastic place to wrap the story up, I do think if they made an Uncharted 5, people would go into "Another Uncharted?" territory. This way, they can do a solid ending to the series. Makes me even more excited for the new IP.

Uncharted was the one reason I defected from xbox to Playstation and when Uncharted 4 comes out no doubt it will be the one thing that makes me get a ps4.
