Prince charles is calling for backing from the leaders of the 3 main parties for his new initiative, which is to get 10-20yr olds into volunteering or a structured activity such as scouts.
'Step up to serve' (SU2S) aims to encourage up to 2 million youths to participate, the estimated cost being £4 million.
Do you think this is beneficial?

Show me such an organisation that isn't religious or military-based and I'll say yes. Unfortunately, I don't think any such group exists (the scout movement is based in god / Christianity, the only other alternatives being the various forces cadets?).
Otherwise, it smacks of an attempt at "Great British" propaganda. The thought of our youth being forced to dress up in military style uniform and fly the flag is more than a little scary, frankly.

The maths also seems a little iffy, was Charles particularly good at maths? 2 million participants will cost roughly 4 million? Eh? £2 a head? That sounds a bit... Ambitious...

well, 4 million divided between 2 million means two pounds per head so you cant argue with the numbers.
young people need structure, so any attempt to help young people gain life skills and discipline works for me, after all, its the youth that will make up society.
