not much i don't think, not at this stage anyway, there's so few of them left people will already have their favourites anyway, I don't think the performances even matter much anymore

I never watched it last year but I can't imagine him having won acting the way he is now

He's always been arrogant but successfully feigned humility. Whenever Gary and the judges praised him, he'd meekly bow his head, but he was concealing a smirk imo.
