View Full Version : Can Leona get it right?

Leona Lewis is probably one of the most talented singers on this planet. It's too bad shes over-shadowed by others who have better songs and better advertising that might not be able to sing as less.

Is she making the wrong choices?
Does she NEED to be a bit more pop-y and indulge in some up-beat party bashers, or can she still have a very successful career doing what she does best?

I mean she has turned out the chances to sing some of the songs that went to no. 1 - Burn by Ellie, We found love by Rihanna.

I know it's not all about charts and sales, but to have a successful career in this day in age that has to have some influence.

Thoughts?

Leona can get it right as she has a voice, she is pretty, and likeable, but where it's going wrong is that her label doesn't take enough risks with the songs that they release for Leona.

But surely she must have SOME say?

She turned down We Found Love and a few other hit songs, it's her own fault tbh

I don't see her ever regaining the success she had with Bleeding Love/Her first album

It's true. Turning down we found love is quite stupid.
Then again tho rihanna did make it her own. The video and also how it related to her going ons in real life with chris brown and the chris brown look alike in the video made it that much better. I dont think Leona would of got as muh sucess as that tbh.

She just needs to start taking the right opportunities.

She's had her time of true success. She really should of been what Adele is really with her voice and the platform she had, but it never really reached that level. Will she still get top 5s etc? Yeah of course, but I don't see her selling big numbers anymore even if she did get number 1s. She also doesn't have the whole "True XF Success Story" thing any more. 1D and even Olly are becoming that at the moment.

I think she's kinda in the same boat as JLS - she really ought to have taken some risks with her 2nd album to show some artistic progression but instead she/her team chose to play it safe and stick to a tried and tested formula. By the time she tried something new (e.g. Collide, Trouble) people were already bored of her. I wouldn't count her out just yet, she's more than capable of scoring a hit record with the right material and she's supremely talented so I don't think she'll ever be short of work.

She did take risks & record great upbeat songs, the label just didn't release them as singles & went for the safe options

'Glassheart' from Glassheart & 'Outta My Head' from Echo are fan favourites

I blame Glassheart not doing better on the label, they hardly promoted it and it had some amazing songs on it, I think she needs to do some colabs with good producers and maybe get herself onto a dance song next summer idk.

Im looking forward to her Christmas album personally.

I'm sorry for the late reply.

Anyway if you're an X Factor winner you don't really get much say on the material that you release.
