Still trying to perfect this dish, it's a favourite of ours.
Was shocked to see someone on 'This morning' making it and using 2 tablespoons of brown sugar! :/
How do you make yours?

A la kiz...
Rapeseed oil
finely chopped onion
steak mince
ground salt/pepper
carton of chopped tomato with garlic
tomato puree
Italian dried herbs
dash soy sauce
wholewheat pasta
grated cheese

My mum went through a phase of including carrots in her spaghetti bolognese

Assuming it was some kind of mid life crisis

I think grated cheese is too greasy.

Mince
Onions
oil
Garlic
carrots
Parsesan cheese on top
tinned tomato
tomato puree
lots of seasoning
one or half a chill to give a bit of a kick

Cook the hell out of the lot of them then add your fave pasta. Enjoy.

Love having kidney beans in spag bol though, otherwise I follow a recipe more or less the same as Josy's, never tried adding barbecue sauce though

This is making me hungry.

Tend to use a jar of Ragu or Lloyd Grossman's 'cos I've never made it from scratch before... add a bit of tomato puree, some onions and cheese though.

Spaghetti noodles

Boom

People say our spaghetti is better than restaurant stuff... Probably not as healthy but still

I like the sound of the kidney beans, would be like italian chilli con carne :)
Might get some garlic salt, keep looking at it then not bothering as knowing me I'd put too much in and ruin the dish.
Not sure about the carrots, love them in a sweet and sour though :)

Onions and garlic fried in olive oil for a wee while
Brown mince in pot with onion and garlic
Add oxo cube
Add pinch of mixed herbs
Add 3 tins of chopped tomatoes
Add 1 large finely grated carrot (if I don't have one, I'll use sugar)

Bring all to boil then simmer for hours.. Serve with loads and loads of Aldi's fresh Parmesan.

Deeeeeeeelicuous

Hours? Once mince and onion browned and other ingredients in might simmer for 30mins. No wonder it takes hours if you use 3 tins of toms though, have you thought of 1 tin and a bottle of passata? Thats nice, makes it a bit richer won't take as long to get to that nice 'bolognesey' consistency.
Again with the carrot and sugar..:/

No, the longer you can simmer it for on a very low heat, the better and tastier it is.
The carrot or sugar makes sure there's no tang of bitterness from the tomatoes.
