View Full Version : Do you send Christmas cards...
..I don't send/give Christmas cards to many people anymore but generally send an e-card instead..I do still give a few actual cards to older people who haven't got internet access ..but when I was a child, my mum would write out endless Christmas cards to people and I would put them in envelopes and seal them...it was first start of the Christmas feeling for me..that and helping to stir the Christmas cake mixture...Christmas card sending must have cost her so much money in postage as I have quite a large and spread out family...do you send lots of cards or not bother with them so much..?...do you like getting cards..?...

NO
Nah, my parents still sit down every year and write dozens to send though, people they won't have seen in years but will still always exchange cards with them

..yeah, we still get that now with the children at school, Salman..they get so excited and it's all a generally exciting term for them..but can you imagine what it feel like to be a child who doesn't get many cards, while others do........

I always do, I recall as a child getting my first Christmas card addressed to me in the post and I felt so important.
I feel sad this tradition is being replced by cards typewritten and ordered online, the same with Birthday cards too.
I would rather, for me myself anyway, take the time to write a card to someone I really wanted to send a one to and do it in my own handwriting.
I even prefer taking them the card personally if time and distance permits rather than post them too.

..yeah, some send them to the whole class and some send them just to their friends and there are children who don't socialise well, so don't have many friends..but the other side of that is seeing their faces when they receive one card or their first card and all of that feeling of being left out is completely wiped away in their happiness...I guess in a way, you can see the early stuff of why not everyone loves Christmas as an older person..and they're not being 'bah humbug' because those associations/feelings are extremely difficult to erase...

..yeah, I used to do that as well because it's the most awful feeling for them as well, when they forget someone and the school was always reluctant to give you a class name list, so they had to remember everyone in their class...that was when they were very young/primary school age...

Yeah, same here, my daughter started secondary this year so I assume she won't want to give out cards to the whole class anymore

I send cards to family members, usually I give them out on Christmas Day. At school/college I did cards for the students/staff. This is the first year I won't be able to them as I am at university.
Only to people that I'm close too, but I don't care about any body else

I send Christmas cards to friends, with a letter if I've not seen them for a while. There's something nice and personal about opening an envelope.

No, waste of money and waste of resources. People look at them once, put them somewhere where they really don't notice them and then bin them.

In like Year 7 I used too but now I don't really bother haha
Yes I send them out every year, write a note or sometimes add photos in the ones I'm posting to family and friends that I don't see a lot and really enjoy doing it, I also love receiving and reading the ones they send to me and keep them all, lovely little tradition IMO
Looking forward to my card from Josy this year, find out what all the family are up to
