Shy X Factor hopeful Sam Bailey accused of being a fake

X Factor wannabe Sam Bailey has been accused of being a fake after it was revealed she has sung on stage before her audition despite claiming she has no experience.

The prison officer whimpered as she told show host Dermot O’Leary how nervous she was as she hadn’t done anything like it before.

But it has now emerged that the shy singer has years of experience behind her after singing on cruise ships and even performing alongside the likes of Lulu and Beverley Knight.

The Leicester-born lass has even previously tried her luck at The X Factor and Simon Cowell’s other talent show Britain’s Got Talent.

Dermot had said to her before her audition: ‘Have you auditioned for anything before? Have you done much stuff?’, to which the 35-year-old replied: ‘No.’

But she soon blew judges Nicole Scherzinger, Louis Walsh, Sharon Osbourne and Gary Barlow away with her cover of Beyonce’s Listen.

She even has a profile online which describes her as a ‘professional singer’ with a ‘wealth of experience’ and claims she has ‘worked with Beverley Knight, Lulu and Jane McDonald.’

A former colleague of Sam’s told The Sun: ‘She has misled the public. She tried out for the X Factor seven or eight years ago and auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent as well.

‘She should be honest. She made it sound like she’s a shy beginner. She has untold experience.’


Is this true? If it is i'd feel a bit cheated. And believe me, i am massive fan of her. :shocked:

Erm, she has sung on a cruise ship before years ago. She even said she had when made to sing 'My Heart Will Go On' that she was terrified because she hadn't sung that in so long and it brought back memories of when she was a singer on the cruise ship.

As far as I am aware, she ever lied. When she sang celine dion that week, it even said in the opening tape thing that she had sang it on a cruise ship

Well this is a load of crap, shes been fully honest about her being a singer in the past, even on the show she has mentioned it numerous of times and even has showed footage of her singing as a cruise singer, So how exactly is she being dishonest or lieing? But we all know the timid prison officer amateur who needed to be belived in schtick was BS. So why get shocked now?

Let's be honest, she probably made herself frumpy to give herself a "from frumpy prison officer to yummy mummy" narrative. She's 32, who auditioned before, she knows what she's doing, I've never been fooled. She's not some wide-eyed ingenue ffs.


As dull and middle of road as Sam B is , I'd still rather her as winner than one man Westlife machine that is deluded Nicholas who thinks he's Bruno Mars (imagine him singing Gorilla, exactly) but is really Shane Filan.

Then again, it doesn't bother me as she will flop long term once she's won and made her Barry Manilow covers album*. The real battle is for Tamera, Luke and RC to forge success after XF.
