View Full Version : Do you want to be involved in the TiBB Razzies?

How much interest is there in the Razzies going ahead?

I've spoken to a few people who seem keen to be involved. The main purpose of this thread is to establish the interest level and to appeal to James to allow it to be held on this site.

If it can't be held on here, I have an offsite place set up and ready to go where we can hold it. The only problem is that it can't really be moderated if it's offsite, so I think most people would rather it was held here.

So, TiBBers.. please answer the poll.. and James, please can you clarify if you will allow it to be held here. :)

Cheers.

There is no Tibb Razzies. It's cancelled. And if people think doing it offsite with no moderation (so it'll be vicious) and an almost definite outcome of members coming back here and talking about who said what about who isn't going to cause **** then they are silly.

Smh.

lily.
03-12-2013, 04:24 PM
I'm well aware it's cancelled. I think it's a bad decision. There is a lot of interest in doing it. Matt puts a lot of work into it. Some people need to just accept that other people enjoy it.

Livia

It's not like it can be stopped from happening off the forum, anyone can do anything they like off the forum. I'd much rather it go ahead on here considering it's only a few people who object. But if not, I'm all for it going on off the forum.

Kate!
03-12-2013, 04:26 PM
Some people need to accept that for some members it's just an excuse to be nasty and insulting under the guise of 'it's all in fun' hence a licence to say stuff that would be infraction worthy in a normal thread.

lily.
03-12-2013, 04:26 PM
I think it's fair to assume that Matt will allow people to ask to be excluded from being nominated. Therefore the whole thing doesn't affect anyone who doesn't wish to participate.

Livia
03-12-2013, 04:28 PM
I think most people will take it as the bit of fun it is. I'm happy for people to say whatever the feck they like about me. And some probably do that off site already.

For me, the highlight of the razzies is seeing the list of absurd nominations for stuff like "biggest fail". I wish I could quote some examples from previous years but I can't. Maybe about 20% of it is the actual voting, because I try to make weird ones rather than spiteful ones. "Glenn's attempts to be relevant these past 5 years" for example - it's not mean, it's not nasty, it's just... Glenn's an irrelevant mess lol <3 And we get along, so...

And when obscure members get nominated too. I remember the year Billy nominated Ann for everything

It would be better for the Razzies to go ahead on Tibb where we can mod it, if it takes place offsite then we can't do anything to moderate it and it'll obviously end up effecting Tibb. Last Year's would have gone a lot more smoothly if the people that opted out actuallly...you know...opted out as they caused trouble every 5 minutes in a desperate attempt to get it cancelled out of pure spite.

If you're gonna opt out of a Game or an Award or whatever then leave it well alone afterwards. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

If he agrees with your version of events I will apologise for every comment made on the last razzie thread.... Where is that btw?

Glenn.

It was scrapped because the thread was hounded by members who opted out. Sniping as Dezzy has said, every 5 minutes to show their disapproval. The hassle that caused the drama last time is the reason James has 'cancelled' it.

Yea... i'm out

If I have a problem with something somebody on here says or does I would rather tell them directly, rather than bitch about them amongst a gaggling group of gossips 'with immunity' on a closed forum, to be honest.

Also, if the owner of this domain says no you cant do it on here then surely there is a very good reason for that, and he would basically be stating that he wants nothing to do with it... which if I were him would cause an issue when the 'standby board' that has been created uses the name this forum is widely referred to as, i.e. 'TIBB Razzies'

Thirdly, considering the people raising objections over this bitchfest, it cant be a good thing.

Lastly, for the people who don't want to take part and are a little concerned about people talking about them, remember these things:

Words can only hurt you if you let them & How people treat you is their Karma, how you react, is yours.

From what I can remember, there hasn't been an issue with The Razzies since last year. You made a stink about it last year when you were in self destruct mode, knowing you could possibly be nominated for everything. You opted out, fair enough.
The Razzies are a tradition on TiBB, has been for years. I don't think it's fair they should be cancelled because 4/5 people disagree with them.
You can twist the Razzies anyway you like, the fact is they ARE harmless, they ARENT designed to be vicious.

I'll continue to 'make a stink about it' as I wish thank you. It's my opinion and it will never change. I've actually stated it for the previous 2 years ceremonies, again this year and if it's attempted again I'll object again. I'm entitled to express my opinion - it's a forum.

I know they aren't designed to be vicious Glenn, you don't need to put it in capital letters for me, however there are always unacceptable things get said in them that go against normal tibb rules. I find it hard to understand that people don't get that simple fact.

And to reiterate, to do it offsite and use the name of tibb is really not appropriate, I doubt James will be happy about that. On your own heads be it.

Remember how disgusted you were by the recent offensive blog cos doing this offsite is inviting a re run of that. The host has already stated it'll be no holds barred. It'll be sick.

I give up.

Here's what confuses me - if I don't like anything that's on my TV screen then I'll switch over, so why people can't just opt out and let others get on with things is absurd. I've opted out of all future versions of this, and I won't be signing up to the offsite website to watch or comment (so if anyone signs up as me - ban them).

I actually think that if everyone who has opted out, just stays away from it, then trust the people taking part to not throw s**t your way, then I'm 99% sure, that you'll have a fun, and a fm self-policed version of it, which means James will probably be more likely to reconsider next time it comes around.

Personally, I think this having to happen offsite is a bad sign for TIBB in general, and I hope James reconsiders, but I bet he wishes he'd shrunk his own inbox to 400 messages right about now!

Fair enough post, but that's not how it would be.

1 it's already touted as no holds barred? How can any Mod who takes part condone that when it's a forum break. Saying it's offsite isn't a get out because it's a Tibb event!

2 trust people not to say bad stuff!! You're having a giraffe surely.

1) I think you have to trust people to have a no holds barred event between the people participating, and if everyone who doesn't opt out is happy to go along with that, then what business is it of mine?

2) Yeah, why not? It's already been banned from TIBB, so I don't think people will have any reason to act like idiots, because they'll want it back here. I think it's right to give them the benefit of the doubt. If anything is said that's out of order then everyone will know about it anyway, so people will still be punished.

Is it happening then? I want them to hurry up before all these weird Christmas threads start coming on and stealing all the awards.....

Kate, please don't talk about it on the thread anymore. It's just going to cause more negative drama which will no doubt reflect badly on us. I'll message admin.

It's best to leave it now.

Jesus - there won't be an Opt out situation. That's my point. And yes I agree with you that if it causes crap it may well result in punishments which is why I said on their own heads be it. Sigh.

Kizzy - I know. It's like talking to a brick wall. For me, James has stated it's not to take place. That means anywhere surely!

Really? Well that's just spiffing. Shame the site owner is opposed. That's disrespectful. Two fingers to the admin. Nice.

It seems to me that people are objecting because of what they think may happen. Most people I'm sure are going to treat it light-heartedly. Sadly if it's hounded off the forum, then it will be bad for TiBB... but if a few people objecting and insisting it's cancelled the catalyst for it actually being cancelled, then the majority will go elsewhere.

James is admin, not the site owner. I'm sure James doesn't give a toss. If it's happening offsite then James has very little to do with it. It won't affect him in any way.

Are you saying that you don't believe people will be allowed to opt out? Or people will just ignore the opt rules, and just say what they want regardless?

That's the same in any game. Ben has odds for the "first person banned in ML" for a reason, even if it is mostly tongue in cheek.

Livia
04-12-2013, 12:36 PM
There won't be an opt out if it goes off site. But you can't say to people, you can't hold your game here... and we insist you don't hold it anywhere else either.

Well I'm saying there won't be an opt out if it's offsite... I'm assuming there won't be. Anyhoo, if it goes ahead on here, there's an opt out and it's moderated, surely that's the fairest way?

I don't think there's a better way than that. There is no fool proof method and every thread/game has the potential to go sour anyway. I think it should go ahead off site if it can't on here.

04-12-2013, 12:49 PM
Matt I know you're reading this thread - can you comment on the opt out list, and whether you intend for there to be one? Cheers.

Well yeah, the fairest way would and should be to have it on here, but James has already made a decision and it's public. Whatever will give him the quietest life is the path he'll choose.

Why are people honestly afraid that they are going to be constantly bitched about if they aren't taking part? The whole point is to laugh at the funny nominations, laugh at who wins, generally have a good night with those who want to involve themselves, not those who don't? But anyway, yeah I'm up for this.

Matt

if people think doing it offsite with no moderation (so it'll be vicious) and an almost definite outcome of members coming back here and talking about who said what about who isn't going to cause **** then they are silly.

Remember how disgusted you were by the recent offensive blog cos doing this offsite is inviting a re run of that. The host has already stated it'll be no holds barred.

trust people not to say bad stuff!! You're having a giraffe surely.

Must say I find your position on this laughable given that you started your own forum that members of TiBB signed up to - on which you had a rolling discussion of the last Razzies ceremony.

Here's one screenshot that was posted during said ceremony (of which I have a copy saved):

It's ok if you're currently in favour and running with the pack, for those who for whatever reason find themselves on the periphery it can feel very different.
There have been some whopping lies told in this thread, and as there is no way to check unless James takes it upon himself to get involved again and repost last years razzies then I guess that's how it is.
It's very disrespectful to harangue James as he's made his point clear, have the razzies offsite why some are so desperate to throw shade I don't know though.

Didn't I see you on the Katie Hopkins thread, advocating her right to freedom of speech? Does that not apply to everyone?

Kate!

James obviously does give a toss and does look at offsite matters if extreme enough. The recent perma ban ring a bell?

Are you saying that you don't believe people will be allowed to opt out? Or people will just ignore the opt rules, and just say what they want regardless?

Yes that is what I'm saying. Well done.

Matt I know you're reading this thread - can you comment on the opt out list, and whether you intend for there to be one? Cheers.

Nope, whatever is fairest and decent is the path he has chosen. Despite the majority of the forum objecting.

Didn't I see you on the Katie Hopkins thread, advocating her right to freedom of speech? Does that not apply to everyone?

I have the right to say my opinion too but because I'm in a minority it's easy to shout me down. And there's a difference between freedom of speech and off the scale insults and abuse.

..I think it would be silly and inaccurate to say that there was nothing negative at all about the Razzies but there is also the same negatives in ML and just about every other awards/game on the forum from what I observe so they really don't cause any more issues than anything else does and they do create a balance which is what forums or any group needs...the only thing you can try to do is compromise, to meet what people want, which is what Lily is trying to do but beyond that a 'control' can only be achieved through allowing them on TiBB as they have always been....

The comment matt referred to was a year ago... have things not moved on from then?
Apparently not.
Not sure what your point is livia, not being able to tell other forum members how much you dislike them for one night only is some kind of an infringement?
Personally I don't have a problem with it offsite, my guess is it will rumble on for millenium if it doesn't..

Replying to everyone but me *Kate*? Looks like I've touched a nerve...

At the end of the day if the Razzies do go ahead off forum, all we're doing is talking about members off forum - and if anyone gets banned as a result then you, Kazanne, and anyone else from TiBB that signed up to 'RTV' should be banned too.

Matt I know you're reading this thread - can you comment on the opt out list, and whether you intend for there to be one? Cheers.

As previously stated, if the Razzies go ahead on TiBB then I'm happy for there to be an opt-out list. If not then there won't be.

Ok I'm closing this thread, it's pretty clear the same arguments for and against the razzies are being posted again and again and everyone has heard it all before.

I was happy to let this thread remain open when people were debating like adults not turning it into yet another tit for tat drama.

Lily has her numbers from the poll and if or when James replies then he can do it without the thread being open anyway.

Matt I will say this, if you are campaigning to get the razzies returned to TiBB then I really doubt that posting screenshots from months ago that will no doubt cause arguing is the way to go about it.
