It's controversial, I know. I don't post this to be a trouble maker but I do like posting stuff that challenge's people's beliefs and hope that people post stuff to challenge mine.
I think women make better police officers since the majority of the job involves solving domestic disputes and they seem better suited for handling arguments since by every study, they talk more than men and so probably better suited for it. Also, I've seen an example of police brutality where the perpetrator was a female. If you have to be patted down it's usually better to be so by a female. Having to cuff and arrest bigger men might pose a problem but with the advent of non-lethal weapons such as tazers it shouldn't be that big of a problem.
I think only men should be firefighters because the ex-cops are gonna need some jobs and since it's mostly a physical job involving strength more people would want men trying to save them from burning buildings. Women, no offense.
I think the police need both male and female officers..
Firefighters I kind of agree with you :)

How obscenely sexist. Thank goodness your opinion carries no weight whatsoever.

Anyone should be able to be in the police if they can be in some way effective in the job (some aspects require finesse, others brute force). Firefighters... To be frank, no one (male or female) should be a firefighter unless they can prove that they can effectively carry an average adult male out of a burning building. Allowing physically weaker people (and lets be honest - how many women can carry a grown man?) to fill that role in the name of "equality" is madness. Equal opportunities, yes i agree with - a particularly buff / large female should be able to apply like anyone else - but equality in numbers to meet some quota? No. I hate positive discrimination. The people best suited for a job should be the ones employed to do that job, full stop.

My husband is a fire fighter and there are 3 women fire fighters in his station, one being the main driver and all being more than capable, one of them Gav says he'd trust more than most of the men. How completely insulting to those women that comment is.

In terms of sexual fantasies; yes. All cops should be female. Not sure about all firefighters being men though. Not my thing that.
In terms of realness, anyone that is fully qualified (can do it without problems) and wants to be a police or a firefighter should get be one.

You don't make any convincing arguments.
You put forward a few generalised examples of stereotypical gender specific behaviour and think that it's enough to argue for all police officers being one sex and firefighters another?
You need the best people for the job in both professions, and obviously that includes both men and women in both fields.
How incredibly insulting you are to female firefighters and male police officers who work hard at their job and are good at it.

equal testing for all ...do not lower the tsting simply to allow more women into the fire brigade...keep the standards equal and high and if women then qualify good luck to them...but IF any oman got in by passing a slightly lowesr test and someone dies? then what?...at the end of the day one must be capable of dragging live bodies out of burning buildings....fire fighting is about a multitude of other qualifications ,hey are in effect parademics and fire fighters, they pull people out of crashed cars, they save lives on an hourly basis, other skills such as holding breath for extended periods, calmness under fire, etc
as for policing I think its typical pro feminist sexist bunkum to suggest women are better at solving disputes. that's the kind of nonsense that's helped destroy standards through PC Britain.
equal testing for all , never lower standards just to let certain people or genders or ethnicities and disabilities in as forefighters or cops....this is a matter of life and death...maintain standards in fact drive them higher
equal testing for all, that is all
