Speaking as a conniseur of pornography, what turns one on is also what one is disgusted by. Like exploitation. What do you think?

I think on a forum where I can't say ****** because of a swear filter, it's a little rich to ask people to describe their pornography preferences.

Also, no, I wouldn't say I'm turned on by things I'm disgusted by because then I wouldn't be disgusted by them. :suspect:

When I was a kid, long before the internet, porn was like contraband, especially in Ireland, where top shelf mags like Playboy and Penthouse were banned. My big brother use to bring them back from the North or from his holidays on the continent. It was a very deeply guilty pleasure for me to find them where he'd hide them.
I know every kid can find hardcore pornography, like every adult too, at the touch of a button. But it was such a sin in my day. This stuff was high octane contraband. And it was accompanied by a massive sense of guilt, such that feelings of guilt or dirtiness are a turn on to me. So, as pornography has become passé and everywhere, it's still a turn on but it can never live up to the excitement and guilt I had as a child.

I don't know if people, even just in Ireland, are aware of the huge social upheval that has gone on in the last 30 years, wrt to attitudes towards sex. Jokes know no limit to bad taste almost, and deference to church authority or whatever held British moral standards to account, has all but disappeared.

Off topic - but you just reminded me of that scene in Angela's Ashes when they are all in the field looking at sheep or cows or something.

My sense of guilt as a child, and into adulthood, was I believed the women in pornography hugely degraded themselves, and had to have done it under extreme duress. So like crocodile tears, I consumed them and cried for them, so to speak. Guilt and turned on at the same time.
I'm a late developer, and learning all the time. One of my most eye opening experiences was walking into a brothel in Alvor in the western Algarve. I was the only customer amid a couple of dozens girls, and I was snapped up like the last candle in a power strike.
I was told 20 years ago or so women had a sex drive too, but I didn't really believe it. I think it was because I had grown up with pornography and believed erroneously the women in the pictures were victims.

When I was a kid, a drama shown on RTE, contained a full frontal naked woman. There was a national outcry.

porn is no big deal its moving into mainstream movies. eventually it will be the norm for actors to act all the way they are partly there anyway.

thats how it should be. the romans had the right idear. sex wasn't a big deal until christians came a long and said it was . sex is no different to riding a bike. sex is like playing football you dribble a lot spend ages trying to get the target then shoot and score lol

The genie is well and truly out of the bottle. There's no going back to the standards of prim victorian society. The thinking is that moral standards could ebb and flow with fashion. But it cannot any longer. What is now can't be reined in. It's out there. It's going to become so bland and passé, hackneyed and trite. And boring. And like Roman society, looking for any and every new depraved thrill, to keep up the lust.

I actually don't watch porn anymore, but I started when I was like 11 and mostly just wanted to see some dick and quickly got bored of it.

Sex trafficking wasn't in the lexicon when I was a child. I'm 48. I'm talking about 1970 or thereabouts.

Well, that comment was tongue in cheek but it doesn't matter whether it was in a lexicon, you thought the women were forced into doing what they did and it turned you on.

Yes it did. It turned me on that they were being raped, so to speak.

I'm scared.
I have grown up since then. I have learned the difference.
Ironically I think I've learned the difference, over time between rape and consentual sex, through the prism of pornography.

That's so wrong! And I can't even understand why you would admit to that!

I have grown up since then. I have learned the difference.
Ironically I think I've learned the difference, over time between rape and consentual sex, through the prism of pornography.

And why is this something you would have to learn? Weren't you brought up knowing that no means no?! How can someone have difficulty knowing the difference between rape and consensual sex?

I think I kind of get what he's saying. Not that he's turned on by rape, but that back then when he discovered porn without having any sexual experience himself, he assumed no woman would do this for a living willingly and were therefore being forced into it... Obviously watching the actual films were turning him on so he thought rape turned him on?
Am I right memo?

Well maybe in future rather than post in the thread looking for a reaction you could hit the report button and then we might see it?
