Poor Nicky blue eyes, realising so called mentor Loius didn't really back him the truth dawn on him far far too late.

oh **** off Nicholas, you came second you should be glad of that. It was alot more than what he deserved imo. Does he really think he was better than Sam? If anyone should be bitter about Louis it should have been Luke, it was clear that Nicholas was Louis main priority in his group

Pete.
17-12-2013, 11:04 AM
Louis did say in the final to Sam with effect that 'I hope you win. That will be Christmas No.1.' As for Gary, he did not hate him but was probably annoyed that he would be there in he final 2 when her were more deserving people

Coming third is better than coming 2.

I'd rather be in luke shoes than nicholas. Nicholas will be imortalised as the "loser" in Sam's winners video, thr bit they show dermot saying "and the winner of XF is...." cue tense silence "sam bailey!" Cue ticker tape and sam pretending to look shocked.

He got further in the show than he should have anyway, silly boring Scottish dick.

Stay mad when they don't offer your boring ass a record deal either and you end up working at Marks & Spencer's or st. knob.

The vote between them was so close. I was expecting a massive gap.

The gap was close because Nicholas fan base was huge but defined ie Scottish and grans whereas Luke got more casual voters who may have tuned in for final. If Sam B had been factored out of equation, luke could have won, but glad he didn't as he has more control.

It's funny reading comments in DM, people saying luke should have been in sunday grand final.

Gary clearly never liked Nick but couldn't slate him for first month as he was singing in tune , just blandly. However once tptp gave him trickier songs and sabotaged production, Gary was able to stick boot in.

Do these people ever learn? slate the show/judges and say bye bye to being signed.... I hate it when people are ungracious, Gary has given him some great comments over the series and all he can focus on is Gary not giving him an ovation, he needs to rein in his ego.

That's why it's better to come 3rd. You can accept there were 2 acts with more votes, you get attention on Xtra Factor, not much sabotaging as production know you're no threat, people saying "X ie Luke should have been in Sundays grand- final" whereas 2nd place ie Nicholas gets less attention it's all about sam and winning, sabotaging, loser appearance in winners video, people saying "lucky to be in final".

Nicholas is quite bitter whereas Luke isn't.

Gary was wrong for not standing for him in the final but he can't really complain about the negative feedback he as was getting, that's what the judges are there for.

Also I agree Louis would be a terrible mentor he's so fake and probably cared more about himself winning.

Depends who sings the ballads. Nick sends me right to sleep.

alex_front2
17-12-2013, 01:33 PM
Ballads generally work imo now if the singer isn't a typical ballad singer eg Eminem has done of the best (rap) ballads. Wrecking Ball would have been a mega flop if someone obvious like Celine Deon or Sam B sang it, but Miley with her twerking scandal, nudity and carefully contived pseudo controversity stopped it from being s slushy dirge.

In the 1980s the best song writers would lend their songs to big name established divas like cher, celine and tina turner. Now they give their best to younger chateuse like ella eyre, rihanna, miley, iggy azealia etc. Sharon and Gary are deluded if they think sia will want to give her songs to a Sam or Nicholas.

Niamh.

Dunno if it's because I didn't watch the show so I'm not sucked in by the pantomime this year or if I just see things differently to most of the responses in this thread, but I think it's completely fair enough to be annoyed that your mentor was openly supporting your rival in the final and that a supposed impartial judge was still criticising you for absolutely no reason in the final - Gary was criticising him for... not singing a ballad? How is that even a criticism? Why would you say that? Because you're trying to sabotage the guy to ensure he doesn't win. Perfectly fair enough for him and his mum to be annoyed at the behaviour of the judges - you also had Nicole Scherzinger duetting with the eventual winner, Sharon Osbourne's act. All four judges wanted Sam to win, the production team were doing their absolute best to ensure nobody else won. As always, another fix-within-the-rules result.

I guess when you put it like that you have a point although it isn't good really for him to vocalize it if he's hoping for any kind of a career out of this........the fact I think he's s**t and didn't deserve to be in the final probably is clouding my judgments, I'll admit

Also it's well documented that Louis Walsh is a crap mentor in the music industry. If you want to succeed under Louis Walsh then you'd better be Irish, male and do everything to his standards and expectations. The list of people who have been dropped by Louis Walsh for not meeting his standards is ridiculous - he completely abandoned Girls Aloud after Popstars: The Rivals and they had to manage themselves completely in the beginning - they didn't become the smash success that they became because of him - he just took their profits and did nothing for them. He completely soured towards Ronan Keating when he stopped playing ball. The guy's a nasty piece of work.

And Nicholas while he owned Sam B in the final (which doesn't seem to be that hard) he also shouldn't have been anywhere near the final two either.

mm true enough, I like Sam and she has a great voice but I would never ever by an album of hers or choose to listen to that sort of thing

This is the problem with the X Factor in a nutshell. It is a Saturday night entertainment show. People watch it for the camp performances, the judges and their comments, the weekly guests performing their new songs, the results show which usually stirs up a reaction on a weekly basis with some kind of shock result (someone going home/someone getting through)...

The X Factor also wants to be a talent search for the next big star who will sell lots of records, be a celebrity and sell lots of merchandise. They like to talk the talk (various bootcamps and auditions and jumping through hoops in order to get on the live shows) and then it all falls apart because the show is a glorified Butlins show broadcast to the nation. As a result of this total clash in interests, sometimes we have a series where there are some bona fide stars ready to be launched to the UK public - they aren't often the winners but sometimes they are (Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke, Little Mix) - usually though they're one of the runners up (Olly Murs, One Direction, JLS, Cher Lloyd) and sometimes it produces acts who are somewhat credible, if not particularly successful (Matt Cardle, Rebecca Ferguson, perhaps James Arthur if he stops being a twat)... but these acts go through the same machine as the token joke entry (Jedward, Wagner, Chico etc) and rub shoulders with stage school no hopers (Joe McElderry, Rhydian, Ray Quinn) who might be flawless performers with many great attributes under their belt but absolutely no hope of selling records whatsoever.

That is the great problem with the X Factor. The show itself doesn't know what it wants to be, so the acts it produces every year vary wildly from proper, raring to go popstars to great karaoke singers. Sam Bailey, bless her, is a great karaoke singer. How are you supposed to market her to the public? Who is going to buy a Sam Bailey single or album, what is her sound going to be, what are her performances going to be like? How will she cope with the music industry? She's a great singer but is she an artist or capable of being one? I don't think she is, personally.

Great post Greg and I agree completely. For me personally Luke is probably the only one this year who I'd potentially listen to or buy............obviously depending on what kind of material he releases but just by going on what he did on the X Factor I like his voice and the style of music he's leaning towards

He has an EP on itunes. It's really good. You can also listen to it on youtube. I love his style so much!

Gary clearly never liked Nick but couldn't slate him for first month as he was singing in tune , just blandly. However once tptp gave him trickier songs and sabotaged production, Gary was able to stick boot in.

You do talk paranoid bull. Gary was quite supportive of Nicholas, when deserved -but critical when not - that is what a good judge is supposed to do. He was one of the few 'real' juges on the panel - hat off to him.

It's a Demi Lovato song. Not really suited for a 35 year old. It's a song that references bullying, self harming and depression. Not exactly cheery stuff. :suspect:

Plus the song is irritating.:joker:

If Gary was so "real" then how come he never criticized Sam Bailey for shouting in the final when only a couple of years ago he attacked Amelia for shouting in the sing-off when she clearly didn't?

please be quiet, he stayed sat down on purpose cause he's a twat

I'm sure Gary has a greater understanding of sticks, stones and twats. I bow to his superior knowledge.

If I had been a contestant like Nick and felt that Gary had harshly critiqued me, when Dermot asks if I have response to the criticism, I'd calmly remind everyone - especially Gary - that Mr Barlow was the guy who brought us Frankie Cocozza and said straight faced without a flicker of irony on live show 2 "Frankie, you've got a great voice". Sit back and watch the Barlow squirm.
