Not at all, Salman? I have Muslim friends who have a tree and presents for their kids... obviously they don't celebrate any of the religious aspects. And I go a bit overboard for Christmas even though it's not my religion.

I can't remember when I stopped believing in Father Christmas. My eldest niece is 11 now and "knows" but the two younger ones still believe.

Well I'm sure some people do it out of personal choice but the majority don't really considering it stems from another religion. But even though I don't celebrate it properly I do still love christmas and really get into the spirit and watch christmas tv as a family, go to christmas parties, gather with extended family sometimes, do stuff like secret Santas etc lmao and as a kid I did give out Christmas cards at school, like we don't isolate ourselves from Christmas completely lol, we just don't do the whole tree and turkey and presents and stuff.

We have Eid anyway where you go visit family/exchange presents (mainly money)/eat lots of nice food and that's on twice a year

Oh yes... Eid food... lovely. I worked at Newham College when I left uni and some of the staff and lecturers brought in food for everyone at Eid. Scrumptious.

I once said could they just lock all the doors and make it that he couldn't get in,only to be told by a neighbour that you cannot keep him out, if all entries are locked,he has loads of little elves that can get through the keyholes and open the door for him.
I was literally petrified at that thought.
I even said I didn't want any presents when I was 4 so would they tell him not to come.

So my Mum told me the truth and I was really happy, it was a case of not being able to sleep on christmas eve for the wrong reasons,once I knew the truth,I slept very happily.

I laugh at it all now but as a young child, I was very unhappy to say the least at the thought of Santa Claus.

I think I was about 9, there was a boy in my class whose dad was from Armenia and his mum was a devout Christian, so between them they had a no nonsense attitude towards telling the truth about Christmas and what it was really about, so as you can imagine he came sprinting into school one day and was declaring Santa wasn't real, and I was a smart kid so I figured he wasn't lying and it all made sense so I came home and asked my mum who tried to play it off and eventually she admitted he wasn't real because I was clearly being serious and asking a question :laugh:

..I don't think I felt betrayed that my parents had lied to me, Glenn...I think that I was just so impressed that they were able to buy and hide all of those gifts and sneak into our rooms to leave them there and make it look magical, while being very silent...

..we always had the gifts from other people..Aunts/Uncles etc under the tree to open later so that we could thank the person who had given them and 'Father Christmas' was just little stocking fillers our parents bought...we did the same with the boys as well...
