Former Steps star H is ‘furious’ that his picture has again appeared next to a story about convicted paedophile Ian Watkins.
Lawyers for the singer – who shares the same name as the disgraced former Lostprophets frontman - have approached Google after his image was mistakenly placed next to a story about Watkins’ sentencing earlier this week.
Mr Watkins’ management said lawyers’ were ‘taking immediate steps to urgently rectify the position’ and added the singer was ‘astonished’ that his photo was still being linked to ‘the appalling crimes of the Lostprophets singer’.
The pop star, known by his stage name H, tweeted: ‘I am very upset … Again !!!’
This is the second mix-up involving a picture of the singer and his criminal namesake.
Earlier this week the pop star won a court apology after website E! Online used his picture with a story about the abuse case.
Google said it is now looking into page ‘layout’ issues to rectify the problem. The search engine giant relies on a complex algorithm to determine the priorities of stories in its news section, which is unable to differentiate between the two cases.
A spokesman added: ‘For some specific searches Ian H Watkins’ picture is appearing in our results because he is relevant to the story, having received a court apology.’
