this wouldn't surprise me at all, Sharon was always meant to have the winner and the judges pushed Sam Bailey relentlessly.

Not shocked. She was contrived. She was quite glam a few years ago, but when she auditioned she was frumpy. Why? She was obviously advised to do this to have her "OMG, I didn't expect her to sing so well from how she looks" Susan Boyle moment. She put on a lot of weight later in 2012 - that's a dead give away. Why would you audition looking your worst, when she looked better in previous years. SuBo moment. Louis* followed team orders and reinforced this by labelling her ScewBo. No wonder she had no problem with the label.

More over Sam hasn't been a prison officer for that long, yet her recent job was mentioned ad nauseum. Her long standing previous cruise ship singing jobs played down. What job did Lorna do?

Then there was always the tedious "self deprication" and false modesty on Xtra Factor. Caroline would ask her an innocuous or unrelated question, and Sam B would crow bar in some gushy false modesty. Or mention her kids. Who would really sing Sande's "Clown " to kids. Noone, but it was a cheap opportunity to remind us she's a mum**

* he was always team Sam B.

** See See in Miss Dynamix was also a mum and that was barely mentioned before her pregnancy revelation. KAsim from RC also is a parent and that was never mentioned on XF. No wonder fellow Over and fellow parents Joseph and the sexy mixed Asian lady never made it past judges houses....

Can't believe you all fell for her "who, me, lil ole me?" wide eyed routine. She's a 36 year old professional singer with her eyes on the prize. She's no ingenue!! They probably lined up too bland Nicholas and too controversial Tamera to be the no hope alternatives.

Another give away was she was always able to diagnose her stumbling blocks to success on XTra Factor eg her fans may be too old to vote for her on social networks, that she doesn't wasnt to do just old fashioned stuff but do Rihanna songs. This stuck me as suspiciously wily for a so called fish out of water naive modest mum of two.

Her false modesty pretending she thought she'd be in bottom 2 was hilariously rehearesed. Her fake shock when Dermot called her name was laughable especially when others like Hannah, KLR, Tam and RC had been in bottom 2 a few times. Luke's reaction was complacent the week after he'd been in bottom 2 once, but realistic (false sense of security)whereas Sam's hyperventilating, hands on mouth, throwing self on Sharon seemed very contrived.

Who really cares? As I always say anyone that actually watches X Factor as a bonafide talent competition instead of a primetime weekend entertainment show on the biggest commercial network in the UK is very foolish

Besides, despite the inevitable manipulation that anyone watching this show should be prepared for and expecting, they still can't fix the phone vote - so if the viewers wanted her as the winner, that's what they got. Could have quite easily picked one of the better acts if they had wished but they chose not to

It's TV, what do people expect?

Who can't "fix" the phone vote?

Jack_
28-12-2013, 07:13 PM
Well unless they want their network shut down, they won't be doing it

Honestly I get so sick every year of people claiming the votes are fixed. They aren't. That's it. The sh*t they would face if it was discovered they were doing so doesn't make it worth their while. It's just a TV show, yes they will pimp certain people and hope they do well but at the end of the day they just want two things - high viewing figures and as many votes as possible. Who for they're mostly disinterested in, after all they'll just sign who they want when the show has finished anyway regardless of where anyone finishes and they'll treat the winner however they see fit

Manipulation, yes. Absolute vote fixing - no.

Tbf though Jack a large proportion of her votes were probably down to the perception that she's 'ordinary' and relatable

I'm not denying that but that isn't 'fixing', it's just manipulation and as I said in the other post anyone that genuinely watches a show like X Factor expecting a genuine, fair talent competition with integrity is sadly mistaken. Once people start watching it for what it actually is - a Saturday and Sunday night primetime entertainment show on the biggest commercial channel in the UK (which means they are relentlessly chasing ratings and ad revenue throwing all chances of a tame contest with no drama or manipulation out of the window), they'll enjoy it a lot more

The Voice is the closest thing we are getting to a genuine singing competition and just look at how dull that's been so far, but the BBC don't have advertisers to please

I wonder if she had got to the final without all the manipualtion. I don't deny she can sing, but she doesn't wow me.

Doubt they can fix votes, but can make conditions favourable. Now that Sam B has won from Overs they can hand it back to Louis and continue to disregard it.

Really? Well tell that to Leona Lewis.

Leona is still able to perform, just because she's not jumping up and down the stage doesn't mean that Leona can't perform, Sam Bailey has nowhere near the voice of Leona and she cannot perform at all, it comes off way too karaoke with the attempts at being fun or intense.

The fixing was the dated themed weeks eg 1980s, big band weeks. Who is old enough to remember the 1980s. Plus they kept changing her age she was 32 some weeks, other reprts had her at 36...

Fixing on XF is nothing new. Look at how it was rigged to get a Little Mix win. Louis and Tulisa making some bullsh*te story about Misha B being a bully. Pandering to the baser part of white viewers' pre conceived notion of a dark skinned black girl. Aggressive, bully, rude. When Misha landed in bottom 2, the damage was done (Leigh Anne Little Mix is pathetic) and Louis sheepishly admitted he was lying and Tulisha blowing a small row out off proportion and then Misha eventually went out.

Re Leona, she will need to changd her style to survive. Her live performance is just so unimaginative and female performers live or die by live shows. Unless she writes or receives Adele level songs she is doomed as a performer and artist. Uptempo songs sell and sell tickets. For every Stay, Rihanna has had to bring out a Rude Boy, Monster, Sos and Only Girl in the World. Leona is not attracting that many new fans. If she did something uptempo and modern, she'd get more attention for eventually doing a ballad. She also needs to get someone to chose her songs for her so far she's had the following slip out of her hands:

We found love - Calvin Harris to Rihanna
Burn - Ryan Tedder to Ellie Goulding
Halo - Tedder to Beyoncé.

Totally agree with this, the X is very staged but without all the staging and manipulation it would be a pretty poor show, never been able to watch the Voice beyond the first one or two shows.

If it was all in their head then how come I agree with them on it, and so do many others, if it wasn't for 4 pimp slots and every help known to man she would've come 3rd.

It's actually quite unfair that not even the public's 2nd choice won.
