Amazon UK has opened a beta PlayStation Network store (http://www.amazon.co.uk/b/?_encoding=UTF8&camp=1634&creative=19450&linkCode=ur2&node=3859994031&pf_rd_i=2683270031&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_p=454704227&pf_rd_r=0V4PECRE1H2KWFZ8CP5V&pf_rd_s=center-1&pf_rd_t=101&tag=prog-21), allowing customers to purchase digital PlayStation titles directly from the retailer.

The launch follows a similar service in the US earlier in the year.

Customers are able to pick from a variety of PSN titles or PSN credit which can then be redeemed on PlayStation Network, and could be a good alternative to those concerned with entering their credit card details on Sony's service.

However, don't expect to see too many bargains: the prices currently appear to be largely identical to buying directly from PlayStation Store.

Will be interesting once the service gets into full swing, its a great idea to let Amazon open a rival store, as it will drive prices of digital games down in its later life.

Its basically an early version of the site, that is still undergoing a lot of changes.

Also how can they rival PSN using.. their stuff?

By giving discounts and the like, Sony officially gave them permission to do so, competition is always good for buisness.

its like a test run of the product open to the public so they can give feedback on it e.g if the layout is good, if it's got any bugs, etc.

Yeah I don't really get this either, even with Chewy's explanation

You buy codes to put in PSN. Basically, just think of it like Game, Gamestation, Gamestop, Grainger Games and Shopto. They're all independant stores, who sell things for Sony/Xbox. Except this is the online equivalent, Sony probably realised that digital gaming would never take off on the consoles, unless they allowed competition.

Great news, PSN are getting a bit lazy adding more Classics recently and they hardly ever update prices apart from the PS + Stuff. this should kick them into gear

PSN digital games are ridiculously priced. Hopefully this drives the price down lol
