View Full Version : Quitting smoking: Day 20

Benjamin
01-01-2014, 08:10 PM
So far today I have been okay without a smoke but the last hour I have started to get really irritable and emotions have ranged from being depressed, to wanting to smash somebody in the ****ing face before being calm again.

Anytime I feel like I need a smoke I'm gonna come in here and distract myself.

They are so expensive and not been proven to be any better than real cigarettes as they still contain chemicals. I'm gonna try do it with will power.

Nicotine patchs or gum? just think of those horrible lines smokers get around their mouths from all that sucking, that should do the trick.

This is so true, I picked up a menthol one to read the small print (I smoke menthols) and it had more crap in it than the cigs I smoke :conf: obviously not saying they are all the same but switching to those ones for me wouldn't have been any better.

Good luck btw.

I suggest you try them to use only occasionally or keep one just in case for those days when willpower is über hard. I live in a house where my parents smoke and they have done most of their lives, so I know from their experiences how hard it is to quit. I'm super proud of you for trying :hug: and hopefully you can say goodbye to smoking :amazed:

Good luck! :love:

Get the Nicotine Micro Tabs from the Chemist, not that cheap but better than paying for fags.

You can get them on prescription too...your GP should have smoking cessation which can help

Yeah I read the small print on them one day and they contained just as many chemicals which I'm sure are just as harmful.

My solution so far to ignoring the couple of minutes craving is either come in here, eat one of my Christmas sweets, run up and down the 4 flights of stairs in my house or put on a dance track and gyrate around my room for a few minutes. :laugh:

Many times I tried to pack in smoking so I know what your going through. Ive been off them about 8 years now, cant even stand the smell of them and believe me smokers do smell. You have done a good thing by posting it on here now we all know your packing in so we can all support you. You can do it Ben. A little tip for you, whenever you have a craving for a ciggie, go and clean your teeth so your mouth feels all nice and fresh and minty now you don't want to spoil that by having a horrible drug (nicotine) do you? What money you would use to buy a pack I believe they are very expensive now? Why not chuck your money in a bin or better still save it in a jar??? Best of luck Ben.

Benjamin
01-01-2014, 10:15 PM
Bloody bunch of perverts, lol.

And yeah Mizzy, I'm planning to out the money I would spend on smokes away into a bank account and watch it grow. :hugesmile:

Benjamin

New Year has been and gone Ian, so no more parties for me atm. :tongue:

Day 2 woken up and atm not too bad, the real test will be at work.

Raph
02-01-2014, 11:02 AM

Okay, so far I have:

* reduced the carbon monoxide in my system to 12%
* Reduced my craving to 97%
* My cardio-circulatory is 98%
* Raised my life expectancy by 3 hours
* Saved 2 hours (in which I would have spent smoking)
* I have saved £13.01
* I would have smoked approximately 35 cigarettes by now.

keep going strong Ben. i quit smoking myself in October of 2012. i havent really struggled much. i thought i would. i use to be an off and on smoker when i first did it. would be on for months be off for longer. then i had a stretch where i smoked nearly double than i used to and that went on for nearly a decade. never was on a stretch that close but finally stopped and im really glad i did. it just depends on the person. its easier for some than others and vice versa.
